BRIEF: Kansas City police officer suspended, accused of insurance fraud [The Kansas City Star]

Oct. 20--A five-year veteran of the Kansas City police force is suspended without pay after he was accused in Platte County of attempted insurance fraud.

Officer Shawn D. Oden of the Metro Patrol Division was charged Friday with felony property damage, a Class D felony, for the purpose of defrauding an insurer.

Oden has been with the department since May 2007. The case was investigated by fraud unit detectives of the Kansas City Police Department.
