Amerisafe Safety Consultants Offer New Safety Training for Hydrogen Sulfide

Amerisafe Consulting and Safety Services announce their new Hydrogen Sulfide Safety Training Services. These safety trainings are offered for companies in the oil and gas industries to not only familiarize participants with Hydrogen Sulfide, but provide safety training to those who may be required to have their employees trained in Hydrogen Sulfide due to onsite operator or regulatory requirements due to the presence of H2S.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) September 7, 2010 -- Amerisafe Consulting and Safety Services announce their new Hydrogen Sulfide Safety Training Services. These safety trainings are offered for companies in the oil and gas industries to not only familiarize participants with Hydrogen Sulfide, but provide safety training to those who may be required to have their employees trained in Hydrogen Sulfide due to onsite operator or regulatory requirements due to the presence of H2S.

With Marcellus Shale being the 2nd biggest gas shale and one of the top natural gas shale plays in the world, industry concerns have arisen with Hydrogen Sulfide - a naturally occurring toxic, flammable gas that is created by the natural decay of organic matter - potentially exposed in the Marcellus Shale drilling process.

"The push for natural gas and the drilling in the Marcellus Shale regions has caused an increase in the demand for Hydrogen Sulfide Safety Training. We are excited to be offering this new safety training to companies that could potentially encounter this hazard," states Shaun McGinnis, CSP, Project Manager of Consultation at Amerisafe Consulting and Safety Services (ACSS).

"In addition," continues McGinnis, "the new Amerisafe safety trainings for Hydrogen Sulfide meet the requirements of OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard, 1910.1200, as well as the American Petroleum Institutes Recommended Practices, RP 49."

The Safety Training Topics Include:

   • Sources, Hazards
   • Characteristics
   • Properties
   • Proper Use of Detection Methods
   • Recognition and Response to Detections
   • Symptoms of Exposure
   • Rescue Techniques
   • Proper Use of Breathing Air Equipment
   • Wind Direction Awareness
