Amerinet and Atigeo Partner to Provide Breakthrough ICD-10 Coding Solutions

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Amerinet Inc., a national healthcare solutions organization, and Atigeo™, a compassionate technology company delivering revolutionary semantic software, announce a new contract agreement to provide customized healthcare solutions spanning clinical decision-making, research and development, improved patient care, and a reduction in overall healthcare costs for Amerinet’s 54,000-plus provider member network.

“Amerinet, in its continued delivery of innovation for healthcare providers, is pleased to announce our partnership with Atigeo,” said Dale Wright, Amerinet’s Senior Vice President of Contracting. “As our first joint solution to market, we will make Atigeo’s xPatterns solutions available to help our members reduce costs and improve productivity for ICD-10 code compliance. Given the complexity across all data, systems, and applications in our industry we have found the xPatterns semantic software platform to be a game-changing solution.”

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has mandated the transition from the medical coding standard ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision) to ICD-10 by October 1, 2013. The transition will require business and systems changes throughout the healthcare industry. All providers covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) will be required to make the transition. Current approaches to achieving ICD-10 compliance (matching codes to descriptions of medical procedures and migrating existing patient records from ICD-9 to ICD-10) requires significant investments estimated to be $2-$3 billion industry wide. In addition to updating IT systems, training personnel, and developing documentation, the compliance process demands monumental manual effort from administrators and medical personnel.

Atigeo’s xPatterns™ platform provides a breakthrough ICD-10 coding solution, streamlining the compliance process with highly-accurate results. With xPatterns, ICD coders link to a portion or entire patient record into the system and xPatterns automatically surfaces the most relevant ICD-10 codes applicable to the record. In addition, xPatterns can surface ICD-9 references or identify past under-coding examples. Specializing in automatically simplifying highly-verbose, semantically-rich search tasks, xPatterns enables researchers to submit large queries and instantaneously receive precise results, which take into account the full context of the search. xPatterns finds patterns, draw inferences, and surfaces actionable knowledge from large bodies of disparate medical data with minimal manual intervention.

“We are very excited Amerinet is the first GPO to utilize Atigeo’s xPatterns platform. This demonstrates the level of commitment both parties have to positively impact the future of healthcare,” said Michael Sandoval, Atigeo’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO. “As healthcare organizations struggle to move towards EMR and ICD-10 coding to meet meaningful use requirements, we will use every resource at hand to assist Amerinet’s members to be at the forefront of medical advancements and improve patients’ health.”

xPatterns unlocks new value in clinical documentation and finds previously-unseen, yet relevant correlations between data entities through the self-discovery of patterns and concepts with little integration efforts to current data systems. With these new insights, healthcare organizations may leverage once seemingly disconnected data that can be used for clinical decision-making, leading to improved patient care and a reduction in overall healthcare costs. xPatterns can be deployed as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), with no financial barrier to entry for healthcare providers, while also allowing medical providers to secure their data within their current environment.
