American Express Names Brian Saluzzo as SVP, Global Infrastructure and Nik Sathe as SVP and CTO

American Express Company announced two appointments in its Technology organization: Brian Saluzzo, as Senior Vice President, Global Infrastructure; and Nik Sathe, as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, both reporting to Marc Gordon, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

In a release, the Company noted the appointments were effective in late 2013.

"They bring a wealth of leadership experience and deep technical expertise that will benefit both the Technologies organization and the broader corporation, as American Express continues to deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of our customers and partners in an increasingly digital world."

In his new role as global head of technology infrastructure, Saluzzo oversees product management, operational support, and infrastructure risk management, including data center, cloud, and end user technologies. He has oversight for vendor management supporting infrastructure, as well as joint oversight of the company's IT-related supplier sourcing. He is a member of the Technology Executive Team and serves on the company's Global Management Team.

Saluzzo most recently served at Goldman Sachs as Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Technology Infrastructure. He began his career at NCR Corp. (then a division of AT&T).

In his new role as CTO, Sathe is responsible for technology strategy, enterprise architecture and shared platform engineering. In addition, he has oversight for technology support for mergers and acquisitions and the company's internal technical contributor network. He is a member of the Technology Executive Team and serves on the company's Global Management Team.

Sathe most recently led product and engineering efforts for the Google Wallet digital payments platform. Previously, he held leadership roles at PayPal. Sathe has prior experience at JP Morgan Chase.
