AmeriLife Management Adds Ingenuity: Experience and Expertise Enhance Company Growth

AmeriLife, the nation’s largest privately owned, senior-focused insurance marketing organization, brought aboard five insurance industry specialists to bolster the burgeoning company’s administrative needs, President and CEO Timothy O. North announced today.

Thomas M. Donegan, Jr. joins AmeriLife as its Senior Vice President and General Counsel, having worked most recently as the Vice President/Assistant Secretary and Chief Acquisitions Counsel with Tampa’s Brown & Brown, Inc.Mr. Donegan was awarded his Juris Doctor Degree from Atlanta’s Emory University School of Law. Mr. Donegan earned dual B.A. degrees with honors in Political Science and Russian from the University of Florida and is an MBA candidate at the University of Florida.

Tom Scales is AmeriLife’s new Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Scales, graduated from Rice University with a B.A. degree in Computer Science, also holds the industry-related certifications CLU, ChFC, FLMI and HIA. Mr. Scales comes to AmeriLife from AEGON/TransAmerica in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was the COO/CIO for AEGON Financial Partners (AFP). As such, Mr. Scales was responsible for Insurance Operations (New Business/Underwriting through Claims and Information Technology).

David Mills Martin joins AmeriLife as its Director of Marketing Communications, with responsibility for the company’s American Publishing division, brand development and integration, and marketing communications. With more than three decades experience in the insurance and financial services industry as an agent, supervisor, recruiter and executive, Mr. Martin has hands-on experience with virtually every facet of the industry. Mr. Martin, who earned a B.S degree in Education from Louisiana State University, was most recently the President and Managing Director of AlpineCRS Corporation, an executive search consultancy specializing in insurance and financial services, headquartered in Denver.

Joshua B. Kantor, AmeriLife’s new Manager of Acquisitions & Strategy, was most recently a Senior Financial Analyst with HealthPlan Holdings in Tampa where he assisted in acquiring three companies, adding more than $120 million in revenue over a two-year period. Prior to his employment with HealthPlan, Mr. Kantor worked as an Associate at Ballast Point Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on growth equity investments. At Ballast Point, he was responsible for the deal sourcing, analysis and execution of new investment opportunities and assisted the firm’s fund-raising efforts to close a $140 million fund. He previously served as a Senior Analyst with Hyde Park Capital Partners where he supported mergers and acquisitions and private capital raising efforts. Mr. Kantor graduated as University Valedictorian from North Carolina State University with a B.S. degree in Business Management with a concentration in Finance. He was recently featured in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s list of 30 under 30 Up & Comers for 2011.

Amy Dubay joins AmeriLife as Manager of Medicare Advantage Operations, with primary responsibility for spearheading growth of the company’s Medicare Advantage (MA) business. As a member of the Product Development Group, Ms. Dubay will work with AmeriLife’s Career Agency distribution, as well as its independent marketing organizations, in driving MA growth. Prior to joining AmeriLife, Ms. Dubay led the Agent Services Department at Arcadian Health Plan, one of the nation’s fastest growing Medicare Advantage Health Plans. Ms. Dubay’s professional experience also includes Human Resources, recruiting and administrative health care.
