Amateur Baseball: NL-Spicer sinks Pirates

West Central Tribune, Willmar, Minn.
By West Central Tribune, Willmar, Minn.
McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

June 30--SPICER -- A 16-hit attack and an eight-run third inning was more than enough for New London-Spicer to sink the Paynesville Pirates 13-2 Sunday in a County Line League game.

The Twins sent up 13 batters to the plate in the third and got six hits -- leadoff hitter Ben Kulset singled twice -- to break a 1-1 tie. Kevin Soine legged out an RBI triple and Kulset and Jake Rambow supplied two-run singles to highlight the frame.

Back-to-back doubles from Jake Damhof and Nathaniel Swoyer and back-to-back singles from Patrick Courtney and Ryan Vraa in the sixth added some insurance for NLS.

Twins starter Dean Stier collected the win after scattering four walks and five hits in five innings of work.

Josh Bungum and Trent Hanson had RBI singles for the Pirates.
