Every eight seconds for the next 18 years a member of the baby boom generation – the 78 million Americans born between 1946 and 1964 – will reach age 62, and with new medical advances they are expected to live longer, as are their parents. According to www.agingstats.gov, by the end of 2010 there will be an estimated 40 million people over 65 and 5 million over 85 living in the U.S. By 2030 those numbers will rise exponentially.

According to www.thefamilycaregiver.org, family caregivers provide an estimated $375 billion worth of free care giving services each year. Family caregivers spend an average of 20 hours per week caring for their loved ones.
