Allstate chief marketing officer Mark LaNeve resigns [Chicago Tribune]

Feb. 27--Allstate Corp. said Mark LeNeve, the former General Motors Corp. sales executive who joined the Northbrook-based home and auto insurer in 2009, has left the company "for personal reasons," effective immediately.

"I regret having to leave Allstate since our strategy and hard work are beginning to pay off," LaNeve, who was senior executive vice president of agency operations and chief marketing officer, said in a statement. "Allstate is a great company with an awesome brand, a winning strategy and strong leadership."

Chief Executive Tom Wilson said LeNeve's "resignation was a personal one."

Neither man was available for an interview.

Allstate has been losing market share, and relations with increasing numbers of its agents are strained. To better compete in the online market for insurance, Allstate recently acquired Esurance for $1 billion.

"We accept Mark's decision and are confident in the abilities of our strong leadership team to generate results that will have Allstate win in the marketplace," Wilson said.

Wilson said Matt Winter will be president of Allstate auto, home and agencies, Don Civgin becomes president of Allstate Financial, and Steve Shebik is promoted to chief financial officer.

In his new role, Winter will lead Allstate's personal lines businesses that provide auto and home insurance through Allstate agencies. Winter was previously senior executive vice president, insurance operations, and CEO of Allstate Financial.

Wilson said "Mark and Matt have made tremendous progress together over the last five months, working as a team to establish the priorities for the Allstate Auto, Home and Agencies organization."

Civgin has been chief financial officer since 2009 and led the acquisition of Esurance and Answer Financial. He'll continue to oversee the Esurance and Answer Financial management teams.
