A.M. Best Announces Its Earliest Release of First-Quarter Insurer Data
A.M. Best Co. began its release of first-quarter 2010 insurance company data to subscribers of its Best's Statement File – US – Property/Casualty, Best's Statement File – US – Life/Health and Best’s Statement File – US –Health databases effective May 19, 2010. This is the earliest that A.M. Best has delivered its first-quarter financial statement data, releasing it just days after the filing deadline.
In the property/casualty industry, continuing declines in net premiums written were reported by several lead writers, while the absence of significant losses coupled with continued discipline in underwriting measures are holding combined ratios fairly steady. On the life/health side, the total U.S. life/health industry’s first quarter 2010 financial results – including admitted assets, after-tax net operating gain, and capital trends – are maintaining positive trends similar to those exhibited at year-end 2009. Net premiums written continue to decrease.
Data from insurers that have completed their filings to date is now available via BestLink, A.M. Best's comprehensive online service, enabling subscribers to access financials, ratings, reports and more directly from their Web browser. Data is also available via BestLink for Excel, which allows users to download financial data from A.M. Best's online financial database directly into their Excel spreadsheets.
Data will be updated and made available via BestLink and BestLink for Excel as A.M. Best continues to receive quarterly statements. First quarter industry results reports that contain more detailed commentary and analysis will be released to BestLink subscribers in early June.
