AFCEA Energy Chapter

AFCEA Energy supports the greater energy community by serving as common ground for industry and government without geographic boundaries, providing the opportunity to build relationships, identify needs and challenges and explore technology solutions to help support the diverse mission needs of the energy community globally. Given the geographic, academic and multimarket topology of energy, the chapter has created a framework that allows for the establishment of a collaborative environment through technology. This environment will embrace the direction of a more open and transpatent government by leveraging social media and other advanced mobile and collaborative technologies. AFCEA Energy focuses on the most important issues and initiatives facing the energy community today, including facilitating information exchange, security, energy innovation and transformation. It aims to cultivate greater government-industry partnerships and encourage collaboration among stakeholders throughout the energy community. The chapter hosts several luncheons throughout the year to foster collaboration among government, industry and academia regarding current issues facing the energy community, hi addition, the chapter's education and Young AFCEAN programs are active and growing with plans for collaboration with universities and networking events. AFCEA Energy also provides a venue for small businesses to interface with government and industry.

The chapter is very active and growing in the Aberdeen Proving Ground community. It has recently supported several key team CISR activities including the C4ISR Symposium in Baltimore, the CECOM State of the Command Luncheon, the Heroes Ball and MILCOM. The chapter hosts eight chapter luncheons a year and recently held its first awards dinner. The chapter provides Science Teaching Tools grants and recognizes scholarship award winners. Annual events include a golf tournament and Young AFCEAN Crab Feast.

Alamo Chapter

The chapter supports all services and agencies (active, Guard, Reserve and retired personnel) in the Greater San Antonio and Austin area and is seeking to grow participation. Primary focus is on Camp Bullís; Camp Stanley; MEDCOM at Fort Sam Houston; AFISRA and JIOWC at Lackland Air Force Base; AETC at Randolph Air Force Base; 24th Air Force, 624th OC and AFPOA at Port San Antonio; and TlMPO in the San Antonio area. The Alamo Chapter holds approximately 10 monthly luncheons per year, hosts Young AFCEAN events, awards scholarships to university students, and supports the Science Teaching Tools award through grants in the San Antonio community as well as the SA Best robotics competition supporting area high school students. The chapter presented a $100,000 check to the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), which will be managed by the UTSA Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS) and will fiind the annual Cyber Security Scholarship over the next four years. The chapter holds an Annual Conference and Exposition each year.

The Alaska Chapter is a nonprofit membership association serving the military, government, industry and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications and information technology (IT). The chapter's goal is to promote the ethical exchange of information and facilitate knowledge sharing and education. Its desire is to be a leading IT, communications and electronics association for professionals in government, industry and academia in south central Alaska. The chapter is based out of ]oint Base Elrnendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska. Membership is intended to enhance individual development in its members as communications and electronics professionals.

The chapter has approximately 65 members and is focused on those agencies and companies at Kirtland Air Force Base and in the Albuquerque area that are involved in acquisition, science and engineering, and nuclear missions. The chapter has been relatively dormant since 2008 with the primary ongoing activity being the scholarship program. The chapter recently held an annual meeting and is planning to recruit new board members, define focus areas and develop a partnership with another local professional organization, the New Mexico Technology Council (NMTC).

Argentina Chapter

The chapter is focused on the following groups: Army General Staff, Navy General Staff, Air Force General Staff, Army Technical School, Palermo University, Action Security Group, Nextel Communications Argentina and the Military Life Insurance Company. The chapter recently implemented the following·, two development professional courses of three days each about ICTs; three symposia about C4ISR/ NCW technologies; four conferences about information and ICTs; and several seminars about network-centric warfare and IT security throughout the whole country with a special team that belongs to the Argentina Chapter. It also participated in several security events around the country and received several awards from the AFCEA Educational Foundation (Use of Information Technology in Education, Initiative Grant Proposal and Distinguished Service to Education). The chapter won the Use of Information Technology in Education award in recognition of a short course it held about communications and computers at the high-school level (military schools of the armed forces around the country) with the aim of increasing basic knowledge. The chapter intends to continue focusing on the above topics in the future.

ArkLaTex Chapter

The chapter is focused around the Air Force Global Strike Command, Eighth Air Force, 2nd Bomb Wing, 307th Bomb Wing (AFRES)1 917th Fighter Group (AFRES), 2nd Communications Squadron, 608th Air Communications Squadron, local communications-centric businesses, local civic leaders and industry partners. The chapter holds bimonthly membership lunches, an annual scholarship banquet, a golf tournament and Young AFCEAN events. It also participates in scholarship and Science Teaching Tools grant programs.

Atlanta Chapter

The award-winning Atlanta Chapter of 425 members and 80 corporate associates is vibrant and thriving. It also is in the midst of a transition, as most of the military members will relocate out of the Atlanta area in 2011 due to BRAC. Still, the chapter is financially strong and many of its industry members will remaní in Atlanta. In addition, the chapter is reaching out to federal agencies in the Atlanta area, such as the VA, FEMA and CDC, to build its government customer presence in the chapter. The Atlanta Chapter holds monthly luncheons and an annual Tactical C4 Conference with a golf tournament each April. It annually provides approximately $18,000 in scholarships to local college students. $15,000 in Science Teaching Tools grants to local junior high and high school teachers, and $8,000 in grants to emerging science programs, such as robotics teams and others. It also provides judges and awards for local, state and international science fairs. In support of the military, several times throughout the year - but especially during the holiday season - the chapter teams with the USO at Atlanta's international airport to welcome soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines as they travel through the airport.

The chapter is focused around the following: U.S. Army Signal Center of Excellence and School (TRADOC); 35th Signal Brigade; 513th Military Intelligence Brigade; 7th Signal Command (Theater); NSA Georgia; 706th Military Intelligence Group; 359th Signai Brigade (USAR); and the D.D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center. The chapter has quarterly co-hosted professional development luncheons (with AUSA and SCRA) with senior guest speakers; annual Science Teaching Tools grant awards; annual scholarships to college students and high school seniors; annual Lt. Gen. Douglas Buchholz Memorial Scholarship to an active duty/veteran enlisted person from Fort Gordon; quarterly brown bag lunches with industry guest speakers; and membership appreciation events. For the future, the chapter is looking to continue and grow membership appreciation events; conduct its third annual Industry Day event and add a limited number of exhibits; and sponsor a multicounty math competition for area school children hosted at Fort Gordon.

The Belvoir Chapter is honored to support the Fort Belvoir community by providing a bridge for networking between government and information technology industry professionals. Fort Belvoir is home to more than 90 diverse tenant and satellite organizations from the Defense Department, including PEO EIS, INSCOM, Defense Logistics Agency, Army Cyber Command, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, National Geospatial -Intelligence Agency, DTIC, PEO Soldier and many others. Annually, the chapter hosts a multiday Industry Days conference to foster collaboration and provide small group forums for industry and government regarding current and future plans for communications and information technology solutions. The chapter holds monthly luncheons and small business receptions featuring key speakers from Fort Belvoir and beyond, and it has an active and growing Young AFGHAN community. AFCEA Belvoir donates around $200,000 annually in grants and scholarships to area schools and deserving college students thanks to the support of its members and corporate partners. The chapter supports Fort Belvoir Elementary School through a computer science lab that puts students at the forefront of technology in STEM areas. The chapter also provides science fair judges (and prizes) for the Prince William County Science Fair.

Bethesda Chapter

The Bethesda Chapter focuses on U.S. civilian agencies, including the departments of Homeland Security, State, Justice, and Health and Human Services. Monthly breakfasts and other recurring programs examine the roles that information technology professionals in non-Defense Department agencies play in securing the nation and enabling the government to achieve its missions on behalf of the United States. The chapter's many functions include a monthly breakfast series; IT Days; technology symposia; small business symposia; webinar series; senior executive dinner; annual awards luncheon; annual NIH Charity Inn Gala; and a charity golf tournament. The chapter's robust Young AFCEA Committee fosters an environment where young professionals from the private and public sectors can meet, interact and íearn from one another. The Young APCEANs also develop programming for the chapter as well as professional development programming that is relevant specifically to young professionals within the community. AFCEA Bethesda intends to place increased focus this year on the use of social media, both as a topic of interest and as a means of achieving the chapter's objectives. The Bethesàa Chapter also is constantly exploring other opportunities to develop programs that deliver education and value to members of the community from both government and industry.

Central Maryland Chapter

The chapter is focused around the National Security Agency (NSA), Defense Information Systems Agency and U.S. Cyber Command, in addition to serving members from a variety of other agencies and commereiai interests. Annual activities include a series of seven monthly luncheons; an NSA AFCEA Mission and Acquisition Symposium; an NSA Industry Acquisition Symposium; an annual Corporate Sponsorship Luncheon; an awards night banquet; a Valentine's Day Gala; a Bull and Oyster Roast; spring and fall golf tournaments; an AFCEA 5K Fun Run and Family Walk; and an AFCEA Night at Camden Yards baseball game. The chapters Women in Intelligence Group (WIIG) continued to grow and now has more than 350 members. They have conducted various mentorship nights and fundraising activities and now are self-supporting and profitable. The chapter has increased its overall commitment to education, including providing scholarships to 12 high school graduates; a $25,500 endowment to Anne Arundel Community College; a WUG DREAM scholarship for $2,500; a one-year military scholarship for $2,500; $15,000 in Teacher Toolkit awards; and $20,000 to the AFCEA International Educational Foundation.

Central Virginia Chapter

The chapter serves the defense/intelligence industry in the Greater Charlottesville area, including several local contractors and small businesses and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC), National Geospatial- Intelligence Agency and U.S. Army. The chapter has monthly luncheons with speakers ranging from senior executives within the DIA, NGIA and Army INSCOM. The chapter also has featured speakers from academia and industry related to cyber, biometrics and ISR, and has initiated a Small Business Spotlight to provide more visibility to the small businesses in the area. The chapter partnered with the AFCEA Professional Development Center to bring an introduction to intelligence course to Charlottesville and are also holding a cybersecurity course. The Central Virginia Chapter sponsored a category award for the Virginia Piedmont Regional Science Fair and several chapter members served as judges. The chapter has laid the groundwork for awarding STEM-related scholarships to local teachers as well and hopes to begin awarding them this year. The chapter is taking a more visible role in work force development by partnering with local universities. The Young AFCEANs will be helping to lay the groundwork for initiating chapters at local Virginia universities, such as UVA and JMU

Coastal North Carolina Chapter

The Coastal North Carolina Chapter provides venues for open dialogue on common command, control, communications, computers and intelligence issues through exhibits, speakers and technical seminars. The local chapter meets regularly, and membership is open to civilians and military personnel of all ranks. Each year, the chapter supports awards programs for local communications schools, awards scholarships to deserving local high school and college students, and Science Teaching Tools awards for local science teachers. The chapter is based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Camp Lejeune is the home of "Expeditionary Forces in Readiness," and it is the home base for the II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, and other combat units and support commands. Additionally, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, falls within the area, and it houses the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training, the Fleet Readiness Center East, as well as other combat units and support commands. The base and surrounding community is home to an active duty, dependent, retiree and civilian employee population of approximately 180,000 people.

The chapter is centered around the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic. The chapter recently held an ITTE Conference and participated in the NATO Air Traffic Management Committee meeting in Prague, the Future Soldier Conference and the MIP 2010 workshop. Future events include TNE in Bratislava, and the International Exhibition of Defence and Security Technologies. Emphasis will also be placed on military and police university student membership and on the activities of working groups.

A core group of Dallas AFCEA members are endeavoring to rejuvenate a Dallas Chapter that has been inactive for several years. Nicknamed the "Lone Star Chapter," members support the NAS Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth with almost 40 separate commands and 10,000 active duty military, Guard, Reserve and civilian employees, along with the myriad AFCEA members within the commercial sector. The Lone Star Chapter has been meeting for several months in developing a vision to get "off the ground." It held its first luncheon in May 2011 with the Texas regional vice president and Young AFCEAN speaking on AFCEA activities in Texas. It followed with a (uly social mixer for member networking, a September luncheon and AFCEA STEM Scholarship presentation, and a keynote luncheon in December. It is envisioned that regular meetings will be held every third Tuesday of each month. The chapter will offer member events with variety: luncheons with speakers, industry technology discussions, social mixers, community interaction and member assistance events. The chapter hopes to offer routine events to its members, reach out to universities (for new members and higher education support), chapter member corporation spotlight, government outreach, small business support and ultimately membership growth.

The chapter supports scholarships, grants and awards for students pursuing technical degrees; scholastic assistance to military enlisted personnel; science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) schools; outreach programs to minority junior and senior high school students; awards to Air Force Institute of Technology graduate students for research excellence; and annual contributions to the Dayton-Wright Chapter Technical Education Assistance Endowment Fund. The chapter looks forward to growing this area and providing greater support to academia and deserving students in the future.

Recent speakers included Dr. John Riganati; Lt. Col. William Utroska, USA, PM C4ISR OTM; Dr. Richard Wittstruck; Henry Muller; Gary Blohm; Russ Langan, deputy, PM WIN-T; Col. Thierry Belloeil, Acquisition Corps, French Liaison officer; and Joe Forino, program director. Network Operations-Current Force. Maj. Gen. Randy Strong, USA, spoke at a special luncheon celebrating the 150th birthday of the Signal Corps. The chapter supports its Young AFCEANs grants, hosts an annual Education Dinner in June and its Membership Appreciation Party and installation of officers in July, as well as participates in National Arbor Day and the Brookdale Science Fair. The chapter's Young AFCEANs sponsor various activities, such as trips to installations, military tactics and leadership training through paintball, Earth Day support and activities for the new interns at Fort Monmouth and the Monmouth Count)· Boy Scouts. The chapter sponsors the Support Our Heroes Military Ball for Fisher House and holds an annual Joint C1ISR Symposium with the Aberdeen Chapter, the most recent of which was held in Baltimore, Maryland.

Frederick Chapter

The chapters focus is on Fort Detrick and the 40 tenant agencies on the fort. Its mission is focused on biodefense, information technology and the Signals Command, and has a speaker at every lunch. These speakers are the senior leadership at Fort Detrick's tenant agencies. The chapter holds a golf tournament each year, and the proceeds go to educational programs on Fort Detrick as well as the local school system. This tournament is held in conjunction with the NCI Spring Research Festival. The chapter plans to continue with the Spring Golf Tournament lunch series and community outreach, and will also be engaging with other organizations in the area that interface with the fort, such as the Office of Economic Development and the Fort Detrick Alliance.

George Mason University Subchapter

The mission of the George Mason University (GMU) Student Chapter is to contribute toward fulfillment of AFCEA's official mission. Thus, its mission is to promote a forum between industry and the university community for information exchange, learning and networking; to encourage partnership between technology companies and GMU for the purpose of advancing education in the CAl technologies, including demonstrations, speaker presentations, lectures on subjects of interest to students, scholarship and networking opportunities, joint research projects and promoting internships; and to have fun learning and discussing interesting topics relative to computer science, engineering and information sciences. This includes any and all communications technology, such as Internet and wireless, and anything students care about discussing pertaining to what they are studying and what is happening in the rapidly evolving information technology industry. The chapter's student organization participates in outreach to local area schools grades K- 12 to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Greater Omaha Chapter

The Greater Omaha Chapter (GOC) of AFCEA, located at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, is a nonprofit group concerned with providing a common forum for government, military, industry and academia to exchange information, explore technical advancements and expand their information technology perspectives. It awards approximately $18,000 annually in scholarships and book awards to assist deserving students pursuing college curriculum in areas directly related to science, technology, engineering or mathematics career fields. It provides grants to noteworthy school science programs and monetary awards for the Omaha Metropolitan Engineering and Science Fair. In addition to monthly luncheons with guest speakers, the chapter highlights the accomplishments of its program sponsors through the sponsor of the month program. The chapter has a thriving Young AFCEAN program. Their activities range from tour groups to special presentations by senior executive-level managers, as well as a host of volunteer opportunities. Chapter LAN parties are the latest venue for fostering camaraderie. Membership is intended solely to enhance one's development as a communications and electronics professional. The chapter hosts an annual golf tournament to help sustain its goals, and it supplies volunteers annually in support of the USSTRATCOM Cyber and Space Symposium.

Gull Coast Chapter

This chapter services Keesler Air Force Base (AFB) and the Greater Biloxi -Gulrport City area. Keesler AFB consists of the 81st Training Wing, providing electronics, computer and weather training to more than 23,000 airmen, soldiers, sailors, Marines and international students. Keesler is also home to the Air Force Reserve Commands 403d Wing with the world famous C-130J "Hurricane Hunters" and "Flying Jennies." It is also home to the 85th Engineering Installation Squadron, which provides professional engineering and installation services of communications, electronics and cyber equipment for Air Force and joint warfighters. The chapter holds an annual Scope Warrior AFCEA lunch; partners with the 33rd Training Squadron at Keesler AFB to host a luncheon during each of their five annual Scope Eagle seminars; partners with the 81st Training Support Squadron to host an information technology expo once or twice a year; has educational tours to local agencies using tools and technologies of interest; tours information technology departments of significant interest in the Gulf Coast area; and undertakes quarterly volunteer service projects. The chapter also provides up to four $512 scholarships for high school seniors preparing to pursue an undergraduate degree in an appropriate technical discipline and undertakes a Science Teaching Tools initiative for local math/science educators.

The Hampton Roads area has the largest naval installation in the world, Naval Base Norfolk, as well as the Allied Command Transformation Headquarters, Naval Air Station Oceana, Joint Expeditionary Base, Little Creek-Fort Story, Dam Neck Annex Oceana Naval Air Station, U.S. Coast Guard Fifth Coast Guard District and Hampton Roads Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. Hampton Roads is home to seven major Defense Department headquarters commands and major operating bases supporting more than 100,000 active-duty Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard personnel. This diverse military community offers unique opportunities for developing joint and combined communications doctrine and electronic applications. The Hampton Roads Chapter meets monthly to offer an opportunity for networking and an exchange of information and ideas in an open, ethical environment that fosters close cooperation and understanding among the military, civil service and industry. The Huntsville Chapter was raised from the ashes six years ago and has grown to more than 300 members. Its bimonthly luncheons provide a safe forum for government and industry partners to network and exchange ideas freely. The caliber of speakers is increasing due to the insights and contacts of the chapter vice president for programs. Once a year, the chapter sponsors a Technical Symposium on a new capability or technology of interest to its Defense Department members and industry consultants. It also co-sponsored a luncheon with AFA/NMIA/NDIA with nearly 400 attendees. Most of the money raised by these events goes toward grants for teachers and local scholarships. The Huntsville Chapter recently gave out eight $125 science fair awards to elementary, middle and high school students, and $1,000 in Science Teaching Tools awards to eight science and math teachers, plus $4,500 in three scholarships named after the late Lonnie Poling, who helped restart the chapter six years ago. The chapter also hosts an annual Lonnie Poling Memorial Golf Tournament. Lt. Col. Lonnie Poling, USMC (Ret.), flew back seat in F-4s during Vietnam and was one of the founders of the new Huntsville Chapterplus the driving force behind the Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense summits.

The Montgomery Chapter is primarily made up of government and industry information technology professionals serving US. Air Force and DISA information technology (IT) organizations at Gunter Annex and IT units subordinate to Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. The chapter's focus is on meaningful partnership with the Air Force and DISA, providing specialized training to the greater IT community and supporting charities aimed at engendering more science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) participation, particularly among young minorities. The chapter's Educational Foundation recently raised and disbursed more than $175,000, including funding a STEM teacher, partially funding the robotics programs at two high schools, funding four teachers to attend Robotics School, plus numerous individual grants and scholarships. The chapter also hosted approximately 800 STEM-oriented students as part of the Air Force's annual IT conference. The chapter is involved in the Montgomery Information Technology Summit (MITS) GoU" Tournament and Conference; AFCEA banquet at the Air Force Information Technology Summit; quarterly luncheons; membership mixers; monthly YAC events; and annual contributions to the Alabama Technology Foundation, the Cyber Chair at Air University, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Montgomery County public high school information technology academy. The chapter also is working with Tuskegee University to launch an AFCEA student chapter and expects to launch similar efforts with other local universities.

The Rhode Island Chapter is based around the defense business in southern Rhode Island with prime contractors Raytheon and General Dynamics Electric Boat. Numerous local defense companies support these institutions. The Naval Station Newport is the largest military presence in the area. Naval Undersea Warfare Center provides full-spectrum support to the Navy with everything from research to fleet support. The area has a strong education and training presence in the Naval War College, the Surface Warfare Officers School and the United States Coast Guard Academy. The chapter presents scholarship awards at ROTC of Connecticut and Rhode Island universities and colleges, Coast Guard Academy and the Naval War College. The chapter encourages its members to be presenters when there is any relation with the award winners. The chapter also co-sponsors lunches with other professional organizations and conducts tours of Navy and industrial facilities.

The Rocky Mountain Chapter is proud to sponsor a premier annual CYBERSPACE Symposium at the Broadmoor Resort that attracts senior government, military and industry executives to discuss the ever-challenging Cyberspace domain as the nation advances through the 21st century. The chapter also holds eight luncheons a year, fall and spring socials, and a tri-sponsored IMAGE Golf Tournament with NDIA and AFA. The chapter's continued support of local high school and college scholarships and grants, the Pikes Peak Science Fair and the college-level National Security Innovation Competition enables the ongoing education of tomorrow's most promising technology leaders. The chapter also supports many local military outstanding service men and women in programs, as well as the AFCEA International Educational Foundation.

The Rome Chapter is focused on the dissemination of AFCEA knowledge in Italy within the military, industry, central administration and academia in order to involve all the interested organizations on the association topics. The chapter promotes relationships among members and others about communications, information technology, electronics, and command and control in the homeland defense and security domains. Significant attention is given to dual-use applications. Several events are regularly organized for knowledge sharing and dissemination. It also maintains close links to AFCEA International and to other relevant associations, such as IEEE Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society, INCOSE (International Council on System Engineering) and the Italian Modeling and Simulation Association (MIMOS). Many activities are currently under development and organization, including: Master in System Engineering, in partnership with Rome University of Tor Vergata; Master in Satellite Communications, in partnership with Rome University of Tor Vergata; a course on cyber warfare; patronage of TechNet International; patronage of Tech for 2012; and visiting the Italian astronauts Vittori and Nespoli in the Italian Air Force Academy.

San Diego Chapter

The San Diego Chapter comprises more than 1,000 members including industry, government and military leaders from the San Diego area. The chapter concentrates on the C1ISR community, and has a special relationship with the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Headquarters (SPAWAR) and SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific. For more than 30 years, the San Diego Chapter has co-hosted an annual Spring C4ISR Symposium with the Navy, which attracts speakers and attendees nationwide. It holds monthly luncheons featuring keynote speakers from the government, military, and local and regional commercial organizations, which are well attended by both industry and government officials. The chapter sponsors a Veteran Retraining Initiative and lob Fair events each year in association with AFCEA WEST and the Navy's Gold Coast Small Business Conference. The chapter also has a very active Young AFCEAN following with quarterly events and hosts several small business meetings and presentations. The chapter has a very strong Educational Foundation, and it provides thousands of dollars of scholarships each year to both students and teachers. Chapter members work with local schools to install computers for the education and training of students. It also holds an annual Science Fair and Robotics event for educational recipients as well as educational seminars.

The Scott-St. Louis Chapter is focused on USTRANSCOM, AFNIC, DISA, AMC and USAF Mil Transport, AFGLSC, SDDC and NGA, in addition to local and regional industry. Chapter activities include a luncheon program attracting around 200 members with speakers representing government, industry and academia. The chapter's CYBERLOG TechNet Mid- America conference, attended by people from the communications, information technology and transportation fields, draws more than 800 attendees and 83 exhibitors representing 43 organizations, earning more than $20,000 toward its local scholarship program. They chapter's small business and diversity program has increased AFCEA's exposure to the local community. The Small Business Council conducts monthly meetings inviting members of the local information technology business community to participate in chapter activities. It also hosts a Career Fair, which is a free event for both job seekers and participating companies, while continuing to provide a complementary keynote speaker prior to its opening. The Scott-St. Louis Chapters dynamic Young AFCEAN Council (YAC) actively promotes AFCEA within the community, working both within the chapter and the surrounding area. The chapter recently led a fundraising effort for The Mission Continues in the St. Louis community, working closely with The Mission Continues staff, attending a celebration gala and participating in the GO! St. Louis Marathon.

South Carolina Low Country Chapter

The South Carolina Low Country Chapter primarily services the Charleston segment of the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center Atlantic (SSC-LANT). SSC-LANT is the U.S. Navy's designated Technical Authority and acquisition command for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) business information technology (IT) and space systems and comprises more than 12,000 highly dedicated employees and contractors. The chapter is also located near the Charleston Air Force Base (CAFB). Although the needs of the CAFB are not very IT-oriented as a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) action, the Air Force and Navy are connected via a joint basing initiative, and the Air Force is in the process of taking on management of the Naval Weapons Station, where most of the SPAWAR business is located. Chapter activities include a monthly lunch; an annual holiday party and elections; an annual scholarship luncheon, where scholarships are awarded to outstanding students pursuing technical career tracks in college; and two golf tournaments in spring and fall that benefit the chapter's scholarships and educational efforts. The chapter also participates in the Small Business Symposium; the C5ISR Conference; and the Homeland Security Show- all held in North Charleston.

South Central Pennsylvania Chapter

The South Central Pennsylvania Chapter will primarily focus on the following locations and their tenant organizations: Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, Carlisle Army Barracks, Letterkenny Army Depot, New Cumberland Depot and Raven Rock Mountain Complex. As a new chapter, its activities are being established and will continue to grow as the chapter grows. The chapter will hold seven luncheons its first year and then expand to eight luncheons in the following years. Luncheons will be held on the second Friday of the month in which they occur and are scheduled to rotate between Carlisle/Mechanicsburg area and Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. The chapter will hold an annual golf tournament in September at a local south central Pennsylvania golf course, and will also support the development of the nation's future science and technology leaders. Each year, the chapter will provide scholarships to local graduating high school seniors and college students who have demonstrated an interest in information technology, communications and engineering. In support of the military, the chapter intends to assist local Fisher Houses and/or other localized programs that provide aid to military and veterans.

South Florida Chapter

The largest event of the year is its annual C4IST conference. The chapter also gives scholarships and grants to students and schools; provides funding and jointly sponsors a Youth and Engineering Science Fair and Computer Challenge; provides grants to middle school students to participate in the Odyssey of the Mind and the NASA Robotics programs; and provides funding for scholastic books for ranks E- 1 through E-6. The Stockholm Chapter is expanding its focus to cover more of the civilian sector, the security aspects, as well as the military. It tries to deal with crisis management in a broader sense. The chapter has members from the military commands and government agencies as well as members with expertise and currently active in crisis management. Recent presentations included CERT-SE and incident handling; European Defence Agency and the Swedish Defence and Security Export Agency, including the EU directive; next-generation communication system for the agencies involved in crisis management; the European Union and the Baltic countries; defense and security beyond 2014; and homeland security across the Atlantic-the Agreement.

Stuttgart Chapter

The Stuttgart Chapter attracts a variety of senior military, government civilian and Defense Department contractor members due to its association with numerous senior commands located in the area, including HQ U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), HQ U.S. Africa Command (USAFRlCOM), the Special Operations Command-Europe (SOCEUR), and the Defense Information Systems Agency-Europe (DISA-Europe). Elements of U.S. Army Rangers and Special Forces, U.S. Navy Seals, and U.S Marine Forces-Europe (MARFOREUR) are all located in Stuttgart. The Stuttgart Chapter, which averages more than 100 members, saw its number of Life Members increase to 25 in early 2011, and numerous members have won individual service and leadership awards in the past few years. Chapter activities include multiple AFCEA luncheons featuring high-level Defense Department information technology leaders and managers with corporate sponsorship ensuring low-cost and, in some cases, no-cost attendance. The chapter also co-sponsors two major lech expos each year in winter and summer. Additionally, the Stuttgart Chapter prides itself on an outstanding scholarship program, which annually honors high school seniors and at least one instructor with awards in excess of $30,000. Further, the chapter sponsors an annual AFCEA Golf Classic, which is one of the primary fundraisers for its scholarship program.

The Tampa-St. Petersburg Chapter focuses on U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Joint Communications Support Element, 6th Air Refueling Wing, 6th Communications Squadron, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Central Field Command, DISA Special Operations Command Field Office, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration'sAircraft Operations Center, and DIA RSC. Chapter activities include monthly luncheons; a yearly golf tournament; annual award of scholarships to further education; campaign membership drives by participating in the yearly SDVOSB conference; and participation in outreach activities with Young AFCEAN community service by organizing the December Christmas luncheon honoring the Hope Children's Home and purchasing gifts for the Hope Home children. The Young AFCEANs are becoming more and more involved with chapter activities in the areas of professional development, community service, recruiting, and education and scholarships.

The Hague Chapter

The Hague Chapter's participating members are predominantly industry members with interest in the defense C4ISR market. By having active military onboard, the chapter aims to keep the interest of military officers to participate in regular meetings and become members. Chapter activities include bimonthly meetings, an annual black tie dinner and ladies' night, and a booth at the annual Defense Manufacturers Association (NIDV) exhibit and symposium. In addition, the chapter recently invested in its new website. This unfortunately resulted in some financial hardship, which has since been mitigated by corporate support.

Tidewater Chapter

The Tidewater Chapter consists of more than 360 civilian, military and contractor members across the Air Force, Navy and Army services from the Joint Langley-Eustis and Fort Monroe areas. The chapter has fostered extensive community relations, scholarship. Science Teaching Tools, robotics and STEM-related efforts to which it remains dedicated across the membership and board of directors. Chapter activities include holding monthly luncheons with distinguished speakers at the senior executive and general officer level from across the joint community; touring local facilities, such as the NASA Wind Tunnel and the F- 15 Simulator; hosting semi-annual golf tournaments to raise funds for its annual scholarship program; providing extensive volunteer support to the annual Joint Warfighting Conference; and hosting an annual member social to recognize the chapter membership and sponsor base. The chapter has also awarded more than $20,000 in annual college and ROTC scholarships for STEM degrees; hosted an annual Science Teaching Tools program; participated in the Old Dominion Science Fair; and fostered community outreach support through STEM programs such as local robotics teams.

"Konnichiwa" (Hello) from the Tokyo Chapter, The chapter is AFCEA's focal organization for professional communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems organizations in Japan. The chapter's primary focus is to bring together information technology professionals from the U.S. military forces stationed in Japan, U.S. businesses operating in Japan, the Japan Self Defense Forces and Japan's information technology industry. The chapter is strategically located in the world's secondbest technology center and allows it to bring in experts from a wide spectrum of the information technology world to share information. The chapter's other primary goal is to promote technology development in its community by offering scholarships to anyone pursuing higher education in a technology field. Chapter activities include conducting monthly meetings, usually at the New Sanno Hotel in Tokyo; hosting the premiere annual Asian/Pacific TechNet in Tokyo, bringing in senior leaders from both industry and government with an IT training day on the last day; hosting an annual golf tournament; and conducting membership drives at local fairs.

The Tucson Chapter is centered around the I2th Air Force (AFSOUTH), 612th Air Communications Squadron 355th Fighter Wing, 355th Communications Squadron, 55th Electronic Combat Group, 563rd Rescue Group, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Tuscon, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and the FAA. The chapter recently elected a new slate of officers to revitalize the Tucson Chapter with a mix of military and civilian industry representatives. Chapter activities include two speaker luncheons, one of which featured a STEM Teacher Scholarship awarded to a student attending the University of Arizona. The chapter is also planning new programs to become more involved with local schools to promote and support STEM education and University of Arizona ROTC units. Discussions are ongoing with the AFCEA Southern Arizona Chapter at Fort Huachuca for an annual Golf Tournament Challenge. The chapter will also host the AFCEA TechNet LandForces-Southwest to be held in Tucson with both the Army NETCOM and Marine Corps MCNOSC, and other potential organizations in and around Fort Huachuca and Tucson. The Tucson Chapter will sponsor a golf tournament and luncheon in conjunction with the event to raise funds for its educational programs.

The Turkiye Chapter organizes events to bring together representatives of the military, government, academia, industry and information technology companies working in the fields of defense, C4ISR, EW, homeland security to meet, discuss and exchange knowledge. The following are all invited to chapter events: Turkish Armed Forces commands, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Communications, Undersecretariat of the Turkish Defense Industries, Academic and Scientific organizations, Turkish Defense Industry Manufacturers Association, and defense industry and information technology companies. The chapter also focuses on providing scholarship support for some university students and participating in the Science Teaching Tools program. The chapter also participates in the the 5th Aviation and Avionics Systems Seminar and Exhibition; the Military Electronics Seminar and Exhibition; and the Naval Systems Seminar, all held in Ankara. The chapter board members meet on a monthly basis and occasionally visit the VIP offices at the Turkish General Staff, the Ministry of National Defense, Undersecretanat for Defense Industries, Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, Defense Industry Manufacturers Association, universities and some information technology companies to inform them about AFCEA activities and to encourage them to become members of AFCEA.

UK Southern's footprint covers the southern portion of the United Kingdom and encompasses the Naval weapons engineering and warfare schools, the Army's CIS school, the maritime and land front line command HQs, the U.K. Defence Academy and the U.K. Government Defence Laboratories. With the exception of the subchapter at the Army CIS School, the majority of its membership comes from local defence industries. UK Southern has again had a busy year with all planned meetings run as scheduled, with the exception of one that was postponed due to heavy snow. The chapter breaks even or makes a small profit on monthly events. As a consequence, it is able make donations to the AFCEA UK Academic Trust and to other military focused charities. Additionally, the committee uses a wiki site to provide a shared working environment, which greatly aids business. An example of one of the chapter's major events is its biennial symposium on the theme of the shared U.K. information environment.

UK West Chapter

UK West is based in the southwest portion of the United Kingdom and meets every month at the Thistle Hotel in Cheltenham. Recently HQ Allied Rapid Reaction Corps has arrived in Gloucester, and UK West Chapter members are actively encouraging serving personnel to join the chapter by offering a significantly reduced attendance fee for meetings. UK West has had a successful year with all its planned meetings being delivered and attended by an enthusiastic group of members. Numbers have ranged from 10 to more than 25; a meeting on cloud services at HP Laboratories in Bristol was particularly well attended. The chapter is on a stable financial footing and has made donations to the AFCEA UK Academic Trust.

The Vandenberg-Central Coast Chapter is headquartered at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) and services the central coast of California. VAFB, the third largest air force base in the United States, is home to the Joint Functional Component Command for Space (JFCC SPACE), the Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC), Headquarters, the 14th Air Force and the 30th Space Wing. It supports a population greater than 18,000 military, family members, contractors and civilian employees and has a strong local aerospace contractor work force, including Boeing, InDyne, ITT, Iensen AV, L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin, Orion Systems, Quintron, SCITOR, United Launch Alliance and URS. The chapter provides interchange of relevant technology and policy at quarterly Lunch and Learn events at VAFB and sponsors an annual Technology Expo. The chapter also supports the local community through scholarship and grant programs, such as the annual grants to recognize outstanding local K-12 science and technology teachers and assistance to outstanding students going on to pursue technical degrees. The chapter will focus on improving membership, especially through the Young AFGHAN program. In addition to the activities listed above, it plans on having events through this segment of the chapter that will include tours of launch facUities and the fSpOC.

The chapter hosts two or three îarge educational symposia a year and has an active Small Business Committee, which hosts up to four breakfast networking panels. The chapter sponsors around 20 STEM scholarships for graduating high school seniors; sponsors two science fairs; awards three Science Teaching Tools awards to Washington, D.C., high schools; and supports McKinley Technical High School in its mission to become a nationally recognized STEM high school. The chapter's Young AFCEANs hold three annual leadership roundtables for Young AFCEANs to develop their professional skills; co-host the annual West Point Leadership and Ethics Symposium for Washington, D.C., area high school students; and support two science fairs and the execution of all other chapter events.
