Who Will You Become During This Pause?
The COVID-19 crisis has given many of us an unexpected blessing in the form of a pause, a business coach told financial professionals Monday.
Dave Resseguie, founder of The Resseguie Group, said that while much of the U.S. is shut down in response to COVID-19, it’s the perfect time to ask yourself who you need to become. Resseguie spoke at an online town hall meeting held by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Resseguie urged his audience to create a vision of what they want to accomplish and “who we need to become in order to do it well.”
His advice is to write down what you want to achieve during this time. Ask yourself:
- Who do you want to become?
- What designations did you want to obtain?
- What weight and fitness goals did you want to achieve?
- What books did you want to read?
“Write out what’s on your heart,” he said. “And then write a thank-you note to yourself. Put it in a self-addressed envelope and give it to someone you trust to read. Have them seal it and mail it to you on Jan. 1.”
When you receive that envelope in the mail after New Year’s Day, he said, “you will either be a little disappointed that you didn’t do all those things and this will inspire you to make that push. Or you will feel a sense of joy and accomplishment that you achieved what you set out to do.”
