Surging demand for emergency contraception in the wake of the Supreme Court decision overturing Roe v. Wade has led to some retailers limiting purchases of Plan B and similar “morning after” pills, CNBC reported.
However, CVS reversed its purchase limits of Plan B today, stating that “sales have since returned to normal and we’re in the process of removing the purchase limits.”
Meanwhile, Rite Aid was limiting purchases of emergency contraception to three per customer and Walmart said it was limiting online purchases of the pills.
Amazon said it also was limiting purchases to three packages per customer. Walgreens said it had ample supply in-store but put limits on online purchases.
Commonly called the “morning-after pill” and available without a prescription under the Plan B brand, emergency contraception pills reduce the chance of pregnancy after unprotected sex, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said on its website.
