NAIFA’s Future Leaders Program offers free sessions for students

By Press Release

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) is committed to encouraging and supporting the next generation of financial professionals to ensure financial security opportunities are available to all Americans. NAIFA’s Future Leaders program consists of four 45-minute online sessions featuring highly successful insurance and financial professionals. The program is free to college students and is designed to inform, educate, and provide a boost to those considering a career in the profession.

NAIFA’s Future Leaders program explores the challenges and rewards of pursuing various career paths in insurance and financial services. Each session features current NAIFA members as they break down this complex industry to help students determine their best fit. After the course, students will receive a certificate of completion from NAIFA. Sessions are available to watch live and on demand. Students are not required to participate live; sessions will be recorded and sent out to all registrants following each session.

Addressing a Need

NAIFA members and their colleagues in the insurance and financial services industry help American families mitigate financial risks, prepare for retirement, cover education costs, achieve financial security, and realize more lofty financial goals. They also work with American businesses to ensure their financial success and provide benefits to their employees.

There is a growing need for a new generation of insurance and financial professionals, and it is a potentially rewarding career path for many students and professionals exploring mid-career changes.

  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects the employment of personal financial advisors to grow 15 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations.
  • Over that time, BLS projects more than 300,000 position openings for personal financial advisors.

Financial education is a growing trend in the United States. Eight U.S. states require students to create financial literacy coursework as a high school graduation requirement, and nine more states have begun implementing similar requirements. NAIFA is a strong advocate for these requirements and urges every state to adopt them. Basic financial literacy not only puts students on a strong financial footing giving them greater opportunity to be financially secure, but it also builds interest among students in pursuing finance as a career.

The initial 2023 NAIFA Future Leaders program consists of four courses. (Each session runs from 12:00 to 12:45 pm eastern and will be available on demand.)

  • February 2 – Understanding the industry
  • February 9 – Finding Your Best Fit
  • February 16 – Choose Your Own Adventure: Career Options in the Industry
  • February 23 – Tools for Success: Becoming the 1%

Free registration for NAIFA’s Future Leaders program is open at security.naifa.org/futureleaders.
