3 Ways To Get Your Agency More Twitter Followers Now

By Steve Kelly
InsuranceNewsNet

Everyone wants to be popular. Companies that spend hours maintaining their social media accounts and websites each day really want to be popular since more fans and followers equals more potential customers.

Countless businesses have started tweeting up a storm about their industry, local events and current news in order to spread awareness for their brand. Even small independent insurance agencies have found that gaining Facebook and Twitter fans and followers can boost the odds that West coast residents will come to them when they inevitably need California earthquake insurance.

Although there is some debate as to what the ideal number of tweets per day is, many Twitter users agree that the more followers, the better, especially when it comes to tweeting for business.

Here are three ways that your agency can get more Twitter followers now:

• Follow Your Followers Back: Everyone knows that it’s polite to follow someone back when they subscribe to your Twitter feed. For this reason, many people use follower exchange tools like Twitter auto-follow or follow-back lists to ensure that they extend this courtesy to everyone who follows them. This should give companies even more incentive to follow everyone they can on Twitter, since it means that this will surely lead to their own growing list of followers.

• Donate $1/Follower To Charity: When you launch your company’s Twitter account, send out a tweet that says your organization will donate $1 to a certain charity for every new follower you get. Some celebrities have done this, and it could work for your business. People who are interested in the cause will continue to re-tweet your message, and you will quickly build a large following and become respected for your charitable involvement.

• Offer Followers Exclusive Deals: Many people follow companies on Twitter in order to obtain discounts on everything from beauty services to rock climbing, so why not give your followers exclusive deals? This would be a simple strategy for independent insurance agents to implement since they have access to information on which national providers offer the most affordable California business insurance. Simply tweet about and watch how many local companies become your new Twitter followers.

There really isn’t an art to tweeting, it’s more about dedicating the time to build your follower list and provide your readers with consistent, useful information. Some larger businesses have come up with extremely creative ways of promoting their brand through social media, so take a look at what those before you have done.

Don’t be discouraged if you only have 20 followers the week after your company launches a new Twitter campaign, just keep following others and tweeting at least three times a day.

Steve Kelly is a Principal and Producer at the California-based Kelly-Naney Insurance Agency, Inc.
