DENVER (January 4, 2022) – Dennis J. Moore, MBA, CFP, officially became the 2022 President of the Financial Planning Association effective January 1. In this leadership role, Moore will lead the Association’s Board of Directors in formulating and overseeing the Association's strategic direction.
With a passion for financial planning, Moore volunteers his time to assist young financial planning professionals in their career growth. He mentors young planners and has served as chair of the Mentor Committee for the Texas Tech University Personal Financial Planning Alumni Advisory Board. Moore himself has been recognized as an outstanding young leader in financial planning, including being named to InvestmentNews’ “40 Under 40” in 2018 and Financial Advisor’s “Young Advisors to Watch” in 2015.
“I’m looking forward to executing on the initiatives we’ve been working on over the past year, including our value proposition, technology enhancements for our chapters, and other initiatives that will bring value to our chapters and members,” says 2022 FPA President Dennis J. Moore, MBA, CFP®. “I’m excited to continue the momentum from the Advisory Council and our communication within FPA. It will also be great to reconnect in person over the next year, starting with Retreat in my home state of Texas.”
Besides serving on the FPA Board of Directors for the past four years, including as president-elect in 2021, Moore has chaired the FPA Pro Bono Advisory Committee. He has also led the FPA of Dallas/Fort Worth chapter, including as president in 2015 and chair in 2016. His work is not limited to financial planning. He is a past president and member of the Board of Directors of the Young Friends of Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.
Professionally, Moore is an executive leader with Mercer Advisors, one of the nation’s largest independent RIAs and a firm that has been dedicated to financial planning since it was founded in 1985. Dennis joined Mercer Advisors in 2021 as part of Mercer’s acquisition of Quest Capital Management, a Dallas-based wealth management firm, where Moore was the Chief Operating Officer. Moore originally joined Quest as an intern and then joined full-time after graduating from Texas Tech University in 2004. In his new role with Mercer Advisors, Moore will continue to blend his passion for financial planning with his in-depth knowledge of the systems, processes, and support needed to deliver financial planning on a national scale.
“I first joined FPA when I was a financial planning student in college, and FPA has been part of my career ever since. It is such an honor to be able to serve FPA in this role and work alongside all our great, passionate volunteer leaders across the country to move the Association and profession forward,” added Moore.
