Designers Insurance Agency and the Salvation Army Join Forces to Bring Book and Literacy to Local Young People

PR Web

Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) June 12, 2015

Designers Insurance Agency, a locally owned full service insurance provider with locations in Fairfax, Gainesville, and Herndon, has teamed up with the Salvation Army to launch a literacy book drive that promises to broaden the horizons and improve the reading skills of local schoolchildren and teenagers.

According to Salvation Army, there are nearly 1 billion people on the planet without basic reading or writing skills, and book drives like the one supported by Designers Insurance are essential in ensuring that children are well adjusted and able to benefit from future opportunities. It's known that strong literacy skills are crucial in acquiring a college education, and a degree is often the single largest factor in determining whether or not a child is able to continue on to lead a productive and fulfilling life.

"Everything begins with education," says Wally Arcayan, the owner of Designers Insurance Agency. "Helping to broaden the minds of children in our community is a privilege, and our agency is proud to be part of this book drive."

Designers Insurance has mobilized a significant effort in spreading the word about the Salvation Army book drive. Wielding a large list of both personal and professional contacts, Arcayan and the Designers Insurance team are reaching out to local community members, business associates, and local policy holders in an effort to gather funds that will be used to fund the drive. "I can't wait to see all the books arrive, it's going to be a magical moment," beams Arkayan.

Designers Insurance isn't stopping with the Salvation Army book drive – the agency has already supported several local charities, and plans are already in place to select and support several more worthwhile causes over the coming months. "I think it's important for local business leaders to step up and make a difference for the community whenever they can," says Arkayan.

Those who wish to do their part in supporting the Salvation Army book drive in Fairfax are encouraged to visit the Designers Insurance Agency charity page and donate to the cause directly here. To learn more about the other worthwhile causes Designers Insurance Agency has supported in the past, or to find out which new causes will be supported in the future, visit their Community Cause page here.
