LEGAL & GENERAL AMERICA RAISES $856,000 FOR CHARITY.
Urbana, MD, November 22, 2016 – Legal & General America’s Charitable Giving Campaign kicked off October 24th which began two weeks of fundraising events and collecting donations from local businesses.
The 2016 featured charities included Interfaith Housing Alliance (IHA) and Fisher House Foundation. IHA strengthens communities by providing affordable housing opportunities and supportive services to improve the quality of life and economic stability for seniors, working families and individuals. Fisher House Foundation is best known for creating a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.
LGA employees, with help from the community, raised approximately $428,000, exceeding the $350,000 goal. Employees were able to pledge to the charity of their choice, while in-house fundraising events benefited the featured charities. Legal & General America matched the amount raised, so in total $856,000 was donated to hundreds of different charities. Over $60,000 in donations were split between IHA and Fisher House Foundation.
Hugh Grant, vice president for development at IHA, said “This donation is so significant. The impact this money will make contributing to our efforts to provide housing for those that otherwise couldn’t create that security for themselves, will be huge. What a special organization and group of people you have there. I am overwhelmed.”
