Oct. 16--ADRIAN -- Courtney Dye earned Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference medalist honors after a five-tournament average score of 77.2 to help the Indiana Tech women's golf team wrap up the WHAC championship.

The Traverse City Central graduate shot a 4-over-par 75 at Lenawee Country Club for the WHAC Jamboree No. 5 to clinch the title.

She was one of three first-team all-conference selections from Indiana Tech, which finished seven strokes ahead of Madonna in the final league tournament.

SOCCER

ALBION: Goalkeeper Maggie Troost (TC West) improved to 8-3 on the year, and stopped all five shots she faced, in a 1-0 win over Alma... Lauren Bensley (TC Central) started on defense for the Britons and Mikaela Ray (TC West) also played.

ALMA: Forward Zach Vandeveer (Elk Rapids) had two shots in a 4-0 loss to Calvin.

AQUINAS: Michael Weber (TC St. Francis) started on defense in a 2-1 loss to Lawrence Tech...Casey McDonough (Glen Lake) started on defense in the women's soccer team's 1-0 win over Cornerstone.

CORNERSTONE: Nick Manzur (Petoskey) started for the Golden Eagles in a 6-0 loss to Northwestern Ohio.

DAVENPORT: Goalie Aaron Orban (Suttons Bay) recorded the shutout in a 6-0 victory against Indiana Tech. The Panthers moved up to No. 1 in the NAIA rankings -- their first top ranking in program history.

FERRIS STATE: Savanna Wojtanowski (TC West) made four saves in the Bulldogs' 5-2 victory against Northwood. The win improved Wojtanowski's record to 2-3 this year.

KALAMAZOO COLLEGE: Roger Mason Darling (Suttons Bay) scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Adrian. Darling scored on a header off a corner kick in the first half, then added an insurance goal late in the second half on a deflection off a defender from 10 yards out.

LAWRENCE TECH: Christien Geiger (TC West) came off the bench for Lawrence Tech in a 1-0 loss to Siena Heights.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN: Alexandra Simmons (Gaylord) played 17 minutes in goal in a 4-0 victory over Malone...Madison Hamilla (Gaylord) had one shot in the victory and also saw action in a 4-0 win over Lake Erie.

NORTHWOOD: Jessica Kalbfleisch (TC West) started on defense and had a shot in a 5-2 loss to Ferris State. Kalbfleisch also started on defense in a 3-1 loss to Grand Valley State.

SAGINAW VALLEY STATE: Holly Laser (Petoskey) recorded two shots on goal in a 2-1 win over Ferris State and added one shot on goal in a 2-0 loss to Grand Valley State...Olivia Perrin (Cadillac) saw action in both games.

SIENA HEIGHTS: Abbey Fuller (Cadillac) recorded two shots on goal in a 3-0 win over Bethel, then had one shot on goal in a 5-0 win over Marian.

WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE: Kiley Kreple (TC West) got on the field in a 4-0 victory over Missouri-St. Louis and in a 2-0 win over Maryville.

FOOTBALL

ALMA: Alex Crocker (Suttons Bay) punted the ball 12 times for a 35.2-yard average, including a long of 51, in Alma's 31-0 loss to Adrian...Michael Riojas (Mesick) ran the ball eight times for 10 yards...Troy Gahm (Gaylord) made five tackles, with 1.5 being for loss, from his defensive end position...Kolbi Shumaker (Boyne City) returned two punts for 7 yards and also recorded two tackles...Bryan Wonski (Boyne City) started at tight end for the Scots...Trevor Willnow (TC West) started on the offensive line.

FERRIS STATE: Hunter Thompson (McBain) saw action for No. 13 Ferris State in a 68-20 win over Tiffin.

GRAND VALLEY STATE: Receiver Joe Robbins (Petoskey) hauled in one pass for 20 yards as the Lakers downed Wayne State 17-3 for their third consecutive win.

HILLSDALE: Zach Swaffer (TC St. Francis) started at defensive end and had five tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, but the Chargers lost to Ohio Dominican, 9-3...Tom Burrell (Grayling) started at right tackle...Seth Kellicut (TC St. Francis) made one tackle and forced a fumble...Zach Hill (Kalkaska) also played.

HOLY CROSS: John Zakrzewski (TC St. Francis) led the Crusaders with 10 tackles, including nine solos in a 27-24 double overtime loss to Brown.

HOPE: Brandon Parcell (Cadillac) started at right tackle and was part of an offense that racked up a season-high 549 yards in a 38-12 win over Rockford...Tanner Catt (Charlevoix) broke up a pass...Andrew Lucas (McBain) also played in the contest.

MICHIGAN: Joe Kerridge (TC St. Francis) saw action for the Wolverines in an 18-13 victory over Penn State.

MICHIGAN TECH: Zack Skeels (TC West) carried the ball three times for three yards and scored a 1-yard touchdown in the Huskies' 21-6 win over Northwood...Derek Ferris (Cheboygan) made two tackles...Derrick Diver (TC West) also played in the game.

MICHIGAN STATE: Riley Bullough (TC St. Francis) recorded a tackle in Michigan State's 45-31 victory against Purdue...Kevin Cronin (TC West) booted eight kickoffs for an 62.2 yard average.

NEW HAVEN: Matt Zakrzewski (TC St. Francis) tied for the team lead with 12 tackles as New Haven defeated Southern Connecticut State 27-14.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN: Trevor Kruzel (Boyne City) made nine tackles, had 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss as Northern Michigan beat Malone 42-35 in overtime for its first victory this year...Jordan Strope (TC West) started at left tackle for the Wildcats.

NORTHWOOD: T.J. Schepperley (TC Central) and Reece Isenhart (Elk Rapids) both saw action in Northwood's 21-6 loss to Michigan Tech.

OREGON: Offensive tackle Jake Fisher (TC West) returned from a two-game absence due to injury to help the Ducks rush for 255 yards in a 42-30 win over UCLA.

SIENA HEIGHTS: Jake Helsel (Grayling) started at left tackle in a 26-7 loss to Marian.

CROSS COUNTRY

ALMA: Luke Hawley (East Jordan) ran a 34th-place time of 27:20 at the Bethel Invitational, where Aquinas's men's team was 5th of 13 teams...Nicholas Tarsa (TC Central) was 82nd in a time of 27:40 at the NAIA Preview Meet. Aquinas's men were second out of 31 teams...Molly Peregrine (TC Central) placed 12th in a time of 18:54 as the Aquinas women's team took fourth of 32 teams at the NAIA Preview...Kelsey Grigg (Glen Lake) ran a 20:35 to place 43rd for the women's team at the Bethel Invitational. Aquinas was fifth out of 16 teams.

LAKE SUPERIOR STATE: Hannah Passino (Inland Lakes) finished in 41st place in a time of 20:24 at the Jayhawk Invitational at Muskegon Community College.

MICHIGAN TECH: Amber Peabody (Benzie Central) ran a time of 19:57 at the Lucian Rosa Invitational in Kenosha, Wisc.

SIENA HEIGHTS: Shayne Dingman (Mancelona) ran a time of 28:08 to come in 69th place as Siena Heights took third at the Bethel Invitational.

VOLLEYBALL

GRAND RAPIDS COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Katlyn Agren (Cadillac) recorded one kill, one assist and 10 digs as Grand Rapids Community College beat Jackson College 3-2.

HILLSDALE: Lindsay Kostrzewa (TC Christian) had six kills and one ace in a 3-1 loss to Ferris State, and added three kills and one ace in a 3-0 loss to Grand Valley State.

HOPE: Courtney VanHouzen (TC West) had five kills, two aces and six digs as top-ranked Hope improved to 21-0 with a 3-1 win over DePauw.
