Spokane Internal Medicine Physician Named President Of State Medical Association

SEATTLE, Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Brian Seppi, MD was elected president of the Washington State Medical Association at the association's annual meeting in Seattle, Saturday, September 20, held at the Hilton Seattle Airport Hotel. The WSMA represents physicians, residents, medical students and physician assistants throughout Washington state. Dr. Seppi is an internal medicine physician in Spokane. Brian Seppi, MD

"Let's continue to fulfill the promise we have made to patients in our state by making sure they don't just have insurance coverage but also a doctor to treat them."

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Seppi noted several other priorities for his term including physician shortages, issues of reimbursement, funding for graduate medical education and funding for behavioral health.

"The WSMA will continue to be a strong advocate for physicians and patients, making Washington state the best place to practice medicine and to receive care," added Dr. Seppi.

Dr. Seppi received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He completed his residency at Spokane Internal Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Seppi is a practicing internist at Providence Medical Group in Spokane, where he also serves as division lead physician for internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, Spokane Society of Internal Medicine and the American Medical Association, and serves on the board of directors at OneHealthPort. Dr. Seppi is a past president of the Spokane County Medical Society, where he remains an active member.

The following physicians were also elected as officers at the association's annual meeting: Ray Hsiao, MD, Seattle psychiatrist, president-elect; Bruce Andison, MD, Vancouver obstetrician-gynecologist, 1st vice president;Shane Macaulay, MD, Bellevue radiologist, 2nd vice president; Donna Smith, MD, Seattle pediatrician, secretary-treasurer; and Bill Hirota, MD, Steilacoom gastroenterologist, assistant secretary-treasurer. The seventh officer on the WSMA Executive Committee is Past-President Dale Reisner, MD, maternal-fetal medicine physician from Seattle, who will serve as committee chair.
