XL Catlin Strengthens Underwriting Team in France to Support Growth

PARIS, Jan. 23 -- XL Group, an insurance and reinsurance company, issued the following news release:

XL Catlin's insurance operations today announced it has strengthened its underwriting team in France with three hires: Ludovic Ruiller, Ophelie Careme and Vincent Fumey.

Commenting, Bruno Laval, Regional Manager, France & Southern Europe, Insurance at XL Catlin said: "In 2016, our insurance operations in France achieved 17% growth across business lines. In order to achieve profitable growth and keep offering market leading insurance solutions to our brokers and clients, it is critical that we continue to invest in our team. Ophelie, Vincent and Ludovic have impressive technical knowledge and experience in their relevant fields, and I have full confidence in their ability to help support our ambitions in France."

Ludovic Ruiller will join XL Catlin on February 1 as Underwriting Manager, Environmental - France with responsibility for developing XL Catlin's environmental insurance capabilities in the country. Ludovic has over 15 years' experience in environmental insurance. He started his career as an engineer before working as an underwriter for Assurpol from 2005 to 2008. Later, he held positions at AIG Europe Limited, where he has held the positon of Underwriting Manager, Environmental for the past seven years.

Ophelie Careme joined XL Catlin as Underwriter, Property - France on November 14, 2016. She started her career in 2006 with Generali as a Marine Claims Handlers before joining the broking firm Theorcme. In 2010, she joined Chubb as an Underwriting Assistant, Property and was later promoted to Underwriter, Property.

Vincent Fumey joined XL Catlin on January 2 as Junior Underwriter, Casualty - France. He joins from QBE where he had been a Casualty Junior Underwriter from 2014 to 2016.
