Weld County Health Department expands eligibility for free cervical cancer screenings, diagnostic services
Greeley Tribune (CO)
Jan. 10--The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment offers free cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to women 21-64 who meet eligibility requirements.
The Women's Wellness Connection, a program administered by the state health department, has been expanded to include younger women who don't have the income or insurance coverage to pay for screening services. Previously, services began at 40, according to a news release.
To qualify for free services, a woman must earn less than 250 percent of the federal poverty line. That means a single woman with no dependents would have to make less than $29,700 to qualify. A woman in a household of four and a total income of less than $60,750 also would qualify. Women also must be in the U.S. legally and have no health insurance or have health insurance with high deductibles or co-pays.
The Weld County health department also offers free breast cancer screening for women 40-64 who meet the same eligibility requirements.
If a woman enrolled in the Women's Wellness Connection is diagnosed with cancer, she will likely qualify for treatment through Health First Colorado's Breast and Cervical Cancer Program.
