Trump Travels To Iowa To Talk Internet Access, Agriculture

President Donald Trump on Wednesday is traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to discuss improving Internet connectivity in rural areas as part of an infrastructure effort.

Trump is scheduled to begin his remarks at 7:25 p.m. in his first trip to Iowa as president. He will be joined by Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross during the trip.

A White House aide said Trump will talk about how important technology and Internet connectivity are to farmers, particularly for using GPS in their equipment. Trump, Perdue and Ross plan to tour the Kirkwood Community College agriculture program, which is the largest two-year agriculture curriculum in the United States, prior to the evening address.

Trump's senior White House advisor on agriculture issues said Internet access has lagged in rural areas, adding that Trump wants to find ways to improve the issue.
