NEW YORK (AP) _ The Travelers Cos. (TRV) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $454 million.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had profit of $1.89. Earnings, adjusted for investment costs, came to $2.20 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.77 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $9.3 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $9.4 billion, also beating Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $9.17 billion.
