Superior HealthPlan Announces Summit and Everest Award Winners

PR Newswire

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Superior HealthPlan (Superior) today announced the winners of two Quality Improvement awards for 2016. Riverwalk OB/GYN P.L.L.C. earned the Summit Award and Corridor Primary Care received the Everest Award.

Located in San Antonio, Riverwalk OB/GYN is currently under the leadership of Ricardo Muñoz, Jr., MD, F.A.C.O.G, Cristina P. Carreño Simpson, MD, F.A.C.O.G, Heather R. Williams, MD, F.A.C.O.G., Alka Arya-DeGaetano, DO, F.A.C.O.G., Lynn T. Parente, MD, F.A.C.O.G. and Vu Truong, MD, F.A.C.O.G. Corridor Primary Care, located in San Marcos, is led by Sue Ann Harrison, MD, Michael Grady, MD, Jeanne Flinn, DO, Jill Humphrey, MD and Gregory Moore, MD.

"Superior is proud to recognize both Riverwalk and Corridor for their work in providing quality health care to many of our members," said Dr. David Harmon, Chief Medical Director at Superior HealthPlan. "Their exceptional quality improvement scores and primary care services ensure that our members have the opportunity to receive the best possible care and support they need."

Superior annually recognizes providers that demonstrate a strong commitment to the well-being of Medicaid members. To earn the Summit Award, providers must have the highest quality scores, above network-average performance as well as favorable quality and cost indices and quality audits. The Everest award is given each year to a provider that has scored above the network plan average in Quality Improvement scores for three consecutive years.

This year's Summit Award winner, Riverwalk OB/GYN, aims to provide the highest quality patient care in the San Antonio area. Established in 1979 by Tristan Castaneda, Riverwalk consistently evaluates results of their efforts, includes all levels of faculty and staff in the identification and resolution of problems and aims to continue a strong research program to aid in the advancement of medical science. Riverwalk was recently the recipient of the 2016 COLA Laboratory Excellence Award, signifying its commitment to performing quality patient testing and overall laboratory practices.

"We would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to all of our amazing staff and partners from Provident Medical Group, including David Arrieta, Provident CEO, and Holly Pauwels, Provident Management Director," said Dr. Ricardo Munoz, MD, F.A.C.O.G., Riverwalk OB/GYN. "The Summit Award is a tremendous honor from Superior HealthPlan. It is what we at Riverwalk strive for."

Corridor Primary Care was established by Dr. Gregory Moore and Dr. Sue Ann Harrison in 1995. Corridor is made up of Pediatric and Internal Medicine physicians, with 14 providers, 11 medical doctors and three nurse practitioners. Since its inception, the Corridor Primary Care mission has been to serve the community in the best way possible and to provide care for the entire family.

"We are very proud to receive this award," said Sue Ann Harrison, MD, F.A.A.P, Corridor Primary Care. "Providing the highest quality of care for our patients has always been the top priority for our group and it is always rewarding to be recognized for this achievement."
