State Insurance Commissioner puts Mending Health under supervision

OKLAHOMA CITY — State Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready announced Wednesday he placed Mending Health Insurance in Oklahoma Inc., under the supervision of the Oklahoma Insurance Department.
Mending Health is a licensed health maintenance organization domiciled in this state.
"Given the company's current financial situation, we determined this action was needed to protect policyholders and ensure their claims are paid," Mulready said.
Formerly known as Taro Health, Mending was founded in 2021 and began offering plans on the Affordable Care Act Marketplace in 2023. It offered individual Marketplace and small group plans in Oklahoma and Maine.
The agreed order of supervision requires Mending Health to continue processing and servicing its claims and members, including making timely payments during supervision. Mending has decided to exit the Marketplace for plan year 2027, and members will be able to select new coverage during the open enrollment period that begins Nov. 1, 2026, with an effective date of Jan. 1, 2027.
Mulready has designated an experienced supervisor to oversee and monitor Mending Health's finances and claims handling to ensure members, creditors, and the public are protected.
In addition, Mending will no longer accept new enrollments and will not appear on Healthcare.gov. Existing members will not experience a lapse in coverage, the commissioner said.
