Spencer opens new agency

May 19--Dick Spencer Insurance at 926 Gay St. in Portsmouth has a new look and a new name. Spencer has joined the franchise of GlobalGreen Insurance and is their first appointed agent in the state of Ohio. Since joining that franchise in January, there have been other agents appointed around the state.

Spencer said he, his staff and family members traveled to St. Louis to train with several different Independent Insurance Agencies. His wife Sally Spencer received her insurance license in early December and his grandson Wellington, who will graduate from Notre Dame High School at the end of May, already has his insurance license and will be joining the staff on June 1.

"We wanted to be able to set up a new agency with better coverage, services and rates with more options," Spencer said. "We've been at the same location for many years and we have the same phone number (740-353-5131), and we have much more to offer with companies such as Liberty Mutual, Progressive, Travelers, The General, The Hartford and many more. We can shop for our customers and get the best rates out there based on the customer's individual needs, whether it's auto, fire, health, life, bonds or commercial, we also have new state-of-the-art computers and software systems. We want the best for our clients."

Spencer said he has plans to expand the company's services to reach into Kentucky and West Virginia in the near future.
