Albuquerque Journal (NM)

Two junior AP writers TRYING TO BLAME REPUBLICANS for impeachment become routine? Really? ... ET

OK, I'll address the elephant in the room on this subject of "CASITAS." First code enforcement needs to cover every square in of the neighborhoods and cite every travel trailer and RV set up in driveways and streets, where people are living in them. RN

Regarding your June 29th NMSU players settlement, there may be a bright side for (former) COACH GREG HEIAR. Like Jim Jordan, he could have a career ahead as a United States congressman. DZ

INCOMPETENCY HEARINGS are a joke. John Hyde may indicate that he doesn't know much now, but he was fully competent when he killed five people. Anyone, to avoid prison time, can fake normalcy. The issue should be what they did, not what they know now. GH

New Mexicans are having BIG INSURANCE PROBLEMS. Nothing is being done about it; officials aren't even talking about it. My home insurance doubled. My friend in Santa Fe, her home insurance was outright cancelled. They must sell. There is a crisis brewing. Investigate this, please. TEW

Who in city parks and planning came up with the terrible idea to install GRASS AROUND SIDEWALKS in the newly revised ballfield on Lomas? I saw someone watering the areas by hand. Grass on playing fields, yes. Along sidewalks, no. Your city wasting water and tax-payer money again. Bad planning. CA

Re: AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. Part of me thinks 20 years is enough to solve many of the problems. The other me thinks this is just another political decision by a court many of no longer trust or admire. BH

Glad to see the MOWING ALONG TRAMWAY Boulevard north from Central, and the parallel bike/pedestrian trail. Next time, send the litter crews first so the litter and trash does not end up shredded to confetti, increasing the eyesore and (becoming) more difficult to remove. JN

Will Trump supporters ever get tired of being treated like TRUMP'S PERSONAL BANK? Reports are he is now taking their donations to his campaign to pay his legal expenses. For a supposed rich man, he sure needs a lot of monetary help. Or is he just greedy? JH

If TRUMP is so disgusted with the state of America, why doesn't he move to North Korea and continue his "love affair" with Kim Jun Un? JL

Belated thank you to the young native woman who HELPED ME NAVIGATE MY iPhone for an Uber ride from the airport late two Saturday nights ago. I wouldn't have made it home without your help. Huge thanks! NSM

Maybe the state of N.M. should hand out rebate checks after the 4th of July. Seems like lots of $$$ was spent on ILLEGAL FIREWORKS this year. Maybe issue future checks closer to the beginning of the school year. DLN

I had to work full time or close to it both as undergraduate and graduate to get through. I never went into debt. Now I see people who took out loans wanting A FREE RIDE. I can accept dropping some interest on the loan but not the principle. CAM

Massive numbers of ILLEGAL FIREWORKS were set off days before and on July 4 on the west side. Besides fire risk, dogs terrified, the "celebration" continues past 2 a.m. No sleep for the weary. We need much better enforcement. Perhaps a statewide ban would solve the problem. DY

After experiencing the outrageously loud, dangerous, irresponsible citywide behavior on the night of July 4 and well into July 5, I believe that the sale, purchase, possession, transport, and use of FIREWORKS BY INDIVIDUALS SHOULD BE MADE ILLEGAL in the state of New Mexico. CP

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SUPREME COURT for three excellent and appropriate decisions. (1) Blocking student loan forgiveness. (2) Protecting religious freedoms and freedom of speech. (3) Ending affirmative action, which provided unfair advantages based on race. These decisions ensure equal justice under the law and supported our Constitution. DV

So the city provided BUSES FOR FREEDOM FOURTH until 11 p.m. yet with no notice skipped three ABQ RIDE routes in a row on a main thoroughfare, Montgomery Boulevard, the next morning. I guess we know where the priorities are for this city. BV

It seems fairly clear the CLIMATE SCIENTISTS got it exactly right: runaway temperatures, intense wildfires and extreme weather events occur planet-wide. We are in the era of consequences, and it's going to get much worse. Continuing to burn fossil fuels is total insanity. A carbon tax is suicide prevention. KN

MLG is determined to do whatever it takes to make NM No. 1 as the TOP PROVIDER OF ABORTIONS. A hot line to answer any and all questions and an invitation to providers of a safe haven plus patients. Move aside you other 49 states, there's a new game in town. PKC

Nice to see the governor is promoting electric vehicles. No mention of installing CHARGING STATIONS, anywhere, in a large, rural state. Not to mention the cost of a new electric vehicle. Just another day in the state's political arena of craziness with zero thought. CH

Sen. Mimi Stewart drove an electric vehicle to the governor's news conference announcing a proposal requiring automakers to deliver more zero-emission vehicles by 2027. Yet Stewart had to buy gasoline to go home because there was NO CHARGING STATION nearby? The Journal may have buried the lead on this story. DM

Supreme Court ruling removing affirmative action is wrong unless it is accompanied by elimination of all SPECIAL ADMISSION ADVANTAGES i.e. legacy, athletic with low high school grades, huge donation kids. Fair is fair. SA

"One of the most cowardly things ordinary people do is shut their eyes to facts," C.S.Lewis. Are your opinions based in facts or do you repeat political talking points and other misinformation? What facts are relevant to your opinions? STICKING TO FACTS helps reduce divisiveness and supports democracy. MY

SDSU sends a letter informing the MWC of their intent to exit. They get no other conference invites, so their original letter was a "pretend" letter. Now they want back in after things did not go well for them. Let them leave; MWC WILL BE JUST FINE without them. RM

A 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E costs $44,795 as of this writing. What's the average annual income for a N.M. family? Can we expect hefty government subsidies to achieve MLG's LATEST VISION of a progressive N.M.? I think she wants to impress Gavin Newsome in case he needs a running mate. AN

America CANNOT AFFORD DEMOCRATIC POLICIES, and N.M. cannot afford MLG. She now proposes 43% of vehicles to be "clean" even though PNM already promised brownouts. Her party wants to ban gas and wood-burning stoves and other household appliances — all for a negligible decrease in global warming. Enough already. SD

To JF, UTAH SCHOOL SPEND LESS per student because they aren't constantly looking for new ways to reach students. They have the support of the parents and are successful with the methods they use. Maybe fewer superintendents too; those salaries count as per student spending. JG

Remember the days when the city enforced LITTER AND WEED CONTROL? Ahh the good ol' days. CH

It seems strange that abortion advocates are so intent on killing babies without restrictions. Are these the same advocates that reject capital punishment? So, SERIAL KILLERS' LIVES are more important than babies? GT

Check out Oliver Stone's movie "Nuclear Now." Stone is one of very few celebrities that understands NUCLEAR POWER is the only possible solution, given available technology, to global warming. Nuclear power deniers are only delaying what we should have started 30 years ago. Go nuclear. SC

We are being ruled by the minority. The majority of the voters did not want Trump or this disaster of a Supreme Court. It is imperative we eliminate the ELECTORAL COLLEGE. CB

... I went into the military to earn my college classes. Why should us tax passers pay off all the FREELOADERS' COLLEGE LOANS? They borrowed the money; no one forced them. They need to take responsibility to pay it back. Nothing is free. MAP

I was shocked and saddened that the "Fourth of July: What to Know" article in the July 3 edition had to have a paragraph to explain the ORIGIN OF INDEPENDENCE DAY. Is nothing taught in school anymore? At least it didn't say it was a movie from the '90s. EH.

The N.M. Legislature passed a law keeping SEMI TRUCKS IN RIGHT LANE. In reality, it causes more problems than it solves. If one drives from LA to Las Vegas you will see the issues with this law. The biggest problem is not the truckers but the cage drivers. JEH

Gee, "E-CIGINVASION," on Sunday's HEALTH page is scary considering the CCP may have found a better way to infect this country without invading our borders with their 'million person' army! Smoking of anything is a major public health issue affecting our fragile lungs, which can cause death...! HH
