Small Town Girl Insurance sponsors Financial Representative award

LAKE PLACID — The health of a person's financial situation plays a role in a person's well-being situation, especially as we grow older. That's why Colleen McNally, owner of Small Town Girl Insurance of Lake Placid, sponsored the 2022 Highlander Award for Financial Representative of the Year.

"I can't tell you how many retirees come in to upgrade their Medicare and the only thing keeping them from getting all the protection they want and need is they failed to plan or the plan they came up with on their own just wasn't an effective strategy.

"The people who never seem to be worried are those who had solid plans, and that usually involves a financial planner," she said.

McNally, whose office is at 126 Dal Hall Blvd. in downtown Lake Placid, helps arrange healthcare, or more specifically, healthcare coverage for individuals, families and businesses.

As a certified and Florida-licensed United Healthcare agent for the past 13 years, she helps clients examine their needs, explore their choices and decide on a health insurance plan with confidence, she says on her website.

McNally helps seniors age 65 and older transition into Medicare and Medicaid. She chose this career as she saw people struggle with insurance as she worked 22 years as a surgical assistant, 19 of those years at AdventHealth.

Seminars are necessary, she said, because Medicare and Medicaid are too complicated for people to understand easily. Even if people don't buy anything from her, she said, it's good to have the consumer better informed.
