The following information was released by New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen:
U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), author of bicameral legislation that would permanently extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits, released the following statement marking the beginning of open enrollment:
"With the opening of the health insurance Marketplace today, millions of Americans in every state across this country are waking up to drastically higher premiums for the same health care coverage they're already on all because Congress could not come together to extend the vital enhanced premium tax credits that make health care more affordable. It is crystal clear that we must not allow the tax credits to expire this year, or the American people will be left footing the bill for soaring health care costs at a time when too many are struggling to stay afloat.
"Extending these tax credits is one of the most immediate and effective ways to address the cost-of-living crisis that is making it harder and harder for working families to make ends meet. I sincerely hope that we can end the logjam in Congress and avoid a suffocating health care cost hike for millions of families. It's what our constituents expectand deservefrom their elected representatives."
