WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio, July 17 -- Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, issued the following news release:
U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) toured Battelle's Critical Care Decontamination System (CCDS) and COVID-19 research lab. In April, Portman praised the Trump administration for awarding a new federal contract to help fund the rapid deployment of Battelle's decontamination systems to return to use previously worn N95 respirator masks and training to operate these systems to 60 sites across the country.
Portman worked with Battelle and the appropriate contacts at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the White House to help secure the necessary federal funding.
"I had a great tour of Battelle's CCDS and COVID-19 research lab today. Battelle is providing critical support to our health care professionals across the country who are in need for N95 respirator masks," said Portman. "I will continue to do anything I can to ensure our health care heroes have what they need to stay safe while performing their critical work during these unpreceded times."
