Sen. Paul Introduces Bill to Amend Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974

WASHINGTON, May 7 -- Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has introduced legislation (S. 3610) to amend the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 "to allow health share pools to be deemed an employer under section 3(5) of such Act for purposes of offering a group health plan or group health insurance coverage."
The bill was introduced on May 5 and has six co-sponsors. Co-sponsors include Sens. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, James Lankford, R-Okla., Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, Mike Braun, R-Ind., and Ben Sasse, R-Neb.
The legislation was referred to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
