Rep. Takano Introduces Bill to Identify Disparities Between Communities in Auto Insurance Costs

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 -- Rep. Mark Takano, D-Calif., has introduced legislation (H.R. 4885) to "require the Federal Insurance Office of the Department of the Treasury to conduct a study to identify disparities between communities in auto insurance costs and payout amounts based on the predominant racial makeup of such communities."

The bill was introduced on Jan. 25 and has six co-sponsors. Co-sponsors include Reps. Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas, Lucille Roybal-Allard, D-Calif., Karen Bass, D-Calif., Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J., and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C.
