Rep. Jones Requests Expedited Major Disaster Declaration for State of North Carolina

WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 -- Rep. Walter B. Jones, R-North Carolina, issued the following news release:
Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-03) is asking President Donald J. Trump to expedite Governor Roy Cooper's request for a major disaster declaration for the state of North Carolina. As of today, the outer bands of Hurricane Florence began impacting the Carolina Coast.
"I write in support of the North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper'sSeptember 13, 2018 request for an expedited major emergency declaration under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. This declaration would allow much-needed federal resources to be mobilized to assist in North Carolina's response to Hurricane Florence," wrote Congressman Jones in his letter. "As a representative of the coastal region of North Carolina, I request your expeditious consideration of Governor Cooper's petition for an emergency declaration so that essential federal support can be utilized to help protect the people in this region."
