Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) released the following regarding President Biden opening a special enrollment period through the Affordable Care Act for Americans to access health care during the pandemic:
"For over ten years, I have remained steadfast for the health and financial security of hard-working families by voting for and working to strengthen the Affordable Care Act. As our nation continues to face this pandemic, we are continuing to deliver and make sure that every American in every community is able to receive the critical medical care that they and their families need. Thanks to the President's executive order, millions of Americans will be able to buy affordable quality health insurance. At this time of uncertainty, I will continue to work with the Biden Administration to build on the strong foundation of the Affordable Care Act by lowering costs and expanding coverage.
"I encourage all South Texans to research plans and find one that works best for them and their family. In addition, I advise families with current health insurance plans to check the rates and coverage of their plan to ensure it is still the best fit for them."
The special open enrollment for 2021 health plans will run from February 15 through May 15, 2021. During open enrollment, consumers can enroll in ACA-compliant coverage through an exchange or off-exchange - and with the help of agents and brokers.
