Saranac Assistant Fire Chief
"My firefighters did a phenomenal job," Canning said, praising the rapid response.
"They got on scene, they knocked the fire down rather quickly, we contained it to the first floor, we ventilated and we spent some time overhauling to make sure we had the fire out," he said.
Though hesitant to judge the full extent of the damage, Canning said the first floor suffered a "significant amount" of fire and smoke damage while the second story was mostly smoke damage.
COULDN'T STAY IN HOME
No one was injured from the fire, he said.
The residents were not able to stay at the home for the night, and Canning believed they were staying with relatives.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation Friday night, he said.
Canning believed that there is insurance on the home.
