Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly tried to blow up a Tacoma business Monday evening.
The incident happened at about 6:09 p.m., according to a news release from Officer Shelbie Boyd, spokesperson for the Tacoma Police Department. Someone approached Bad Boys Bail Bonds in the 4800 block of Pacific Avenue while three employees were inside.
They placed an explosive device near the front entrance, lit it, and walked away, the release said. About 30 seconds later, the device exploded, which caused “significant damage to the front door and surrounding glass.”
No one was injured, the release said. Police are looking into potential felony-level charges for using explosives.
“Tacoma Police detectives are investigating the incident. The Bomb Squad responded to conduct a post-blast investigation, and forensic personnel also responded to process the scene,” the release said. “...Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Tacoma Police Department.”
