Police arrest driver who narrowly avoided head-on crash during Cruise Night on O Street

Lincoln Journal Star, The (NE)

May 29-- May 29--A 36-year-old man driving on O Street Saturday during Cruise Night narrowly avoided a head-on collision after attempting to flee from police.

Initially, a police officer parked near 37th and O streets saw a blue Mazda driving eastbound with no headlights at about 9:15 p.m.

The driver, Daniel Thomas, pulled into a convenience store at 44th and O streets and appeared to be intoxicated, according to police.

Instead of stepping out of the car, Thomas sped back onto O Street, driving westbound in the eastbound lanes with heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic, Officer Angela Sands said.

After narrowly avoiding a head-on collision, Thomas pulled into another parking lot off of O Street and ran, she said.
