Ormond Beach-Based Security First Insurance Second Time Winner: Best Companies to Work For in 2016

PR Newswire

ORMOND BEACH, Fla., Aug. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Innovation. Fun. Compassion. While those words aren't traditionally associated with home insurance, they are at the core of Security First Insurance Company's vision, and a fundamental reason why it was selected for a second time as one of the Best Midsize Companies to Work for in Florida by Florida Trend.

Each year, Florida Trend honors 100 Florida companies that exhibit workplace excellence. The competition assessed each company's benefit programs, policies, practices and then did an in-depth analysis of leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, work environment, and employee satisfaction.

Employee Development and Advancement Opportunities
Security First Insurance, Florida's 3rd largest homeowner's insurance company, is a family owned company that serves over 300,000 households. The company currently employs 181 insurance professionals and is actively hiring. Security First Insurance is projected to employ over 200 competitively compensated professionals by the end of the year and is exploring locations to build a new headquarters in Volusia County.

Security First Insurance invests in their employees by actively promoting from within. In 2015, 25 employees were promoted into positions of increased responsibility or transferred into another department to acquire new skills. And so far in 2016, 31 employees have taken on new opportunities within the company.

Promoting from within is just one way Security First Insurance invests in its employees. Aside from a full benefits package that includes vision, dental, and health insurance, Security First Insurance gives employees their birthday day as a paid holiday; holds monthly birthday celebrations, family baseball night out, bring your child to work day, theme days with competitions and prizes; and offers a tuition reimbursement program. The company also offers a series of communication workshops and leadership luncheons to help employees expand their skills and to share company and industry information across the organization.

"Providing great experiences for our customers begins with providing great experiences for our employees," says Locke Burt, president and chairman of Security First Insurance. "Our culture, opportunities and innovative spirit have helped make our company one of the best performing Florida homeowner's insurance companies that is also one of the best places to work and build a career. This recognition is particularly meaningful because it is based entirely upon feedback received directly from our employees."

The full list of 100 Best Companies to Work For in Florida will be published in the magazine's August issue. Florida Trend is an award-winning magazine that covers business news, industry analysis, regional news round-ups and executive lifestyle.
