Joseph M. Labella Named Retirement Strategist for Voya Investment Management

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, Aug. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Voya Investment Management, the asset management business of Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today that Joseph M. Labella, CAIA, CIMA®, has been named Retirement Strategist. Labella is based in New York and reports to Paula Smith, senior vice president and head of Retirement and College Savings Strategies.

This new position within Investment Management was created in response to the growing needs faced by financial advisors to help them better address their clients' retirement planning issues and those seeking a unique strategic and consultative resource.

"According to GDC Research and Practical Perspectives, 75 percent of advisors report that retirement clients make up more than half of their business," said Smith. "Given that retirement advice is such a critical need, the unprecedented challenges advisors face and our commitment to professional development around this issue, we wanted to provide advisors with a resource who can offer investment guidance as well as portfolio evaluation and analysis."

Labella has over 20 years of financial services experience — having worked most recently as a consultant for Markola LLC, helping high-net-worth and institutional clients construct asset allocation strategies with an emphasis on alternative investments. Prior to that, he had roles at UBS Wealth Management and was director of Investments at 3 Dimensional Wealth Advisory.

"Voya Investment Management is focused on helping clients invest for their retirement," said Smith. "Joe's passion and expertise will be a great resource to financial advisors looking for support to meet the retirement demands of their clients."
