Insurance Agents Can Catch Up To Eight Hours Of Continuing Education Credits In One Day May 20
<p>POWELL, Wyo., May 5 -- Northwest College issued the following news release:</p> <p>The Northwest College Center for Training and Development in Powell will offer three insurance continuing-education seminars Tuesday, May 20.</p> <p>The choices include a four-credit class on Wyoming Workerfs Compensation and two two-credit classes on directors and officers coverage and excess and umbrella liability policies.</p> <p>The programs are taught by representatives of Education in Pursuit LLC from Arvada, Colo.</p> <p>The first session, gDiscovering D&O Coverage,h meets from 8-10 a.m. It starts with a look at todayfs reasons to have directors and officers coverage, and then moves into policy review, inclusion of the insuring agreement, coverages, deductibles, limits, exclusions, claims and the determination of who is insured. Also included is a brief discussion about excess coverage.</p> <p>gExcess and Umbrella Liability Policiesh meets from 10 a.m.-noon to explore the general purpose and history of excess and umbrella liability, the layers of coverage, losses, policy forms, limits, policy and the language/insuring agreement. A discussion of the declarations page and Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002 is also planned.</p> <p>The four-hour afternoon session on gWyoming Workerfs Compensationh starts at 1 p.m. This course was specifically written for Wyoming as a monopolistic workerfs compensation state and offers a review of the Wyoming Workerfs Compensation Act and definitions. Participants will learn about rights and remedies of employers/employees, extra-hazardous industries and occupations, rates and calculations, premium payments and payroll reports, coverage for out-of-state injuries, public contract work and employer registration. One section of the class is devoted to claims in workerfs compensation plus misrepresentations and/or false statements.</p> <p>All three seminars carry property and casualty continuing education, which is considered eligible continuing education for all Wyoming insurance agents, regardless of the license they hold.</p> <p>Pre-registration is required by May 16, and no refunds will be given after May 13. Cost for the morning seminars is $34 each; the afternoon session is $68.
