- Why won't Gary Peters take a position on Medicare for All?

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) today announced a new digital ad targeting Gary Peters on his refusal to take a position on Bernie Sanders' new Medicare for All proposal. The ad will run and be targeted at Saturday's Bernie Sanders rally in Warren, Michigan.
The ad comes as Bernie Sanders introduced a new Medicare for All proposal this week, which would eliminate private health insurance plans. Peters has supported a "path" to Medicare for All, but has not weighed in on Sanders' latest proposal. In February, Peters was shouted down by activists chanting "Medicare for All," as he refused to take a position on the $32 trillion proposal that would eliminate private health insurance plans for an estimated 5.5 million Michiganders.
"Facing the prospects of a grueling re-election battle, Gary Peters is trying to play both sides of the Medicare for All debate," said NRSC spokesperson Nathan Brand. "With Bernie Sanders in Michigan to campaign for president and promote his Medicare for All proposal, voters in Michigan deserve to know: Why won't Gary Peters take a position on Medicare for All?"
