NJ-based insurance carrier expands into Pa.

NJM Insurance Co. announced Tuesday it has expanded into Pennsylvania, effective Jan. 1.NJM Insurance Co.announced Tuesday it has expanded into Pennsylvania, effective Jan. 1.

NJM's expanded personal insurance offerings to Pennsylvania includeautomobile, homeowners, condo, renters, umbrella, motorcycle, boat and collector car coverage.

We were founded in 1913 by policyholders for policyholders, and we have maintained a special relationship with them ever since operating exclusively in their interests. Were thrilled to bring our legacy to the Pennsylvania marketplace, giving consumers more choice and the comfort of knowing that we only serve policyholders, not stockholders like so many of our competitors."

One of NJMs values, it said, is to support the communities it serves. NJM assists hundreds of nonprofits in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including food banks, after-school programs and financial literacy groups through monetary donations and commitments of time and resources. Its employees are encouraged to use up to eight hours of excused time each year to volunteer at a nonprofit, and the company matches its employees charitable donations up to $1,000 annually.

New Jersey residents can apply for NJM Insurance if they are currently employed by a member organization of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association; work as a New Jersey public sector employee or for the federal government; are currently the named insured, resident spouse or relative on a current/previous NJM auto, home, renters or condo policy; or are or were an authorized driver of a vehicle insured under an NJM commercial auto policy.
