NARAL Pro-Choice America Endorses Veronica Escobar, Sylvia Garcia for Congress

WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 -- NARAL Pro-Choice America issued the following news release:

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) in their races for Congress. NARAL Pro-Choice America is endorsing Escobar and Garcia because of their proven track records of advocating for women's rights and reproductive freedom. Escobar is an El Paso County judge running for the seat being vacated by Congressman Beto O'Rourke. Garcia is a member of the Texas State Senate running for a seat in Houston left open because of Congressman Gene Green's retirement.

"We need Members of Congress who will stand up for what is right and fight back against Trump's anti-choice, anti-woman agenda," " said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. "That is exactly what Veronica and Sylvia will do and we couldn't be more proud to endorse them. Supporting our current and future pro-choice champions is key to establishing a pro-choice majority in the House of Representatives."

"A woman's choice should be between her and her doctor, not a choice made by politicians. I have fought at the Texas Capitol for the reproductive healthcare needs of Texans, and will continue the fight in Washington."

Escobar is an El Paso County judge running for the seat being vacated by Congressman Beto O'Rourke, and Garcia is a member of the Texas State Senate running for a seat in Houston left open because of Congressman Gene Green's retirement.
