WASHINGTON, June 15 -- NARAL Pro-Choice America issued the following news release:
NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced a six-figure GOTV push for the special election in Georgia's6th Congressional District. There, Democrat Jon Ossoff is challenging anti-choice Republican Karen Handel, who is infamous for her attacks on Planned Parenthood. The GOTV push taps into a previously untargeted universe of pro-choice voters who are most at risk of not voting in Tuesday's runoff. The investment includes video ads, mailers, and phone calls to this targeted universe to ensure voters know about Handel's anti-choice record and the consequences of her push to deny funding to Planned Parenthood.
"NARAL is targeting our efforts to ensure pro-choice Georgians vote their values in Tuesday's runoff. As we've seen in recent elections, there's increasing opposition to extreme candidates like Karen Handel, and we're focused on mobilizing that energy to oppose her on Tuesday," said Joel Foster, political director of NARAL Pro-Choice America. "The voters that will make the difference in this election care about protecting our reproductive rights, including access to abortion and birth control. Voters are tired of politicians like Karen Handel who obsess over taking away basic healthcare from women and families. In this election, defending a woman's right to decide if, when, and how to grow her family isn't just the right thing to do to, it's the principled stand that will pay dividends at the ballot box."
