N.Y. Committee for Occupational Safety & Health Issues Statement on Transgender Ban From Military
Targeted News Service
NEW YORK, July 26 -- The New York Committee for Occupational Safety & Health issued the following statement:
"Trans people must not be banned from military service, or any job. President Trump's move to ban trans people from the military sends the message that trans people can be banned from any job at all.
"Trans people that have chosen to serve in the military have made sacrifices and are exposed to discrimination, traumas, violence and occupational injuries; they deserve the highest standard of care and respect on the job.
"All trans people need access to healthcare and transition on their terms as a human right. We recognize the burdens put especially on Black trans women and all trans women of color who are banned from jobs and harassed daily as they fight for their rights.
"Trans people deserve to live and work free of discrimination wherever they choose, with dignity and rights and their safety and health prioritized."
