MassMutual Adds New Group Critical Illness and Group Accident Insurance to Portfolio

Business Wire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Most people rely on benefits offered by their employer to cover their health insurance needs, and while that is a good start, it leaves many exposed without realizing it. That’s where supplemental health benefits play a crucial role.

Recognizing this coverage gap, MassMutual recently introduced new Group Critical Illness Insurance and Group Accident Insurance products to its voluntary benefits offerings.

“MassMutual offers the next generation of products that help reduce the coverage gaps that other plans leave open,” said Shefali Desai, head of worksite with MassMutual. “We have researched and identified some of the leading conditions where people are vulnerable and we have designed solutions that provide amongst the highest level of protection available today.”

INTRODUCING MASSMUTUAL GROUP CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE

MassMutual Group Critical Illness Insurance offers one of the highest levels of protection for a broad spectrum of conditions. For certain covered conditions, coverage includes a severity feature that pays more for severe level diagnoses as well as a progression feature that in total could pay up to two times the coverage amount if a condition gets worse before it gets better. What’s more, there is no lifetime benefit maximum on many conditions, no waiting period, and no pre-existing condition limitation with standard plan designs.

“Think about the impact of this coverage for individuals facing conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, cancer and ALS, amongst others,” added Desai.

INTRODUCING MASSMUTUAL GROUP ACCIDENT INSURANCE

MassMutual Group Accident Insurance provides robust plan design flexibility by enabling the removal or addition of benefits and ability to increase or lower benefits amounts. With up to 184 benefits for injuries sustained in covered accidents, plans designs can include benefits for services rendered at hospital and non-hospital facilities or received via telemedicine, benefits for rehabilitative care, PTSD, exploratory surgeries and many more. Similar to Group Critical Illness insurance, there is no waiting period.

“We have made the process as easy as possible for benefits brokers and their clients to access and use these important benefits and have streamlined everything from onboarding and enrollment to billing and claims,” said Desai. “This is just one more example of MassMutual’s commitment to the voluntary benefits market and to protecting and securing the future of working Americans.”

MassMutual is a leading insurer in worksite benefits and offers group whole life insurance, group universal life insurance, and now, group critical illness insurance and group accident insurance. To learn more, visit worksite.massmutual.com/supplemental-health
