MCMURRAY, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mark Farrah Associates (MFA), www.markfarrah.com, released an analysis brief presenting a snapshot of the Medicare landscape for 2019 using plan information detail presented in MFA’s newly updated Medicare Benefits Analyzer™, a subscription based dataset providing customers easy access to competitive Medicare Plan Finder (MPF) data and Star Quality Ratings. MA plans currently provide medical coverage for 21.5 million beneficiaries, approximately 1/3 of the eligible market. This presents a large opportunity for carriers to diversify their product offerings and help bolster enrollment and market share. With the 2019 Annual Election Period (AEP) well underway, health plans invested in Medicare Advantage (MA) business have been diligently marketing their products with anticipation of attracting more seniors.

MFA reported 3,810 distinct MA plan offerings are in the market lineup for the current 2019 AEP. This includes MA plans, Medicare Advantage with prescription drug plans (MAPDs), Medicare/Medicaid plans (MMPs), and Special Needs Plans (SNPs).
910 stand-alone Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) are being offered for 2019, a 15% increase from 2018 plan offerings.
Approximately 90% of MA plans will include Part D coverage.

Monthly premiums will range from $0 to $313, with 45% of MA plans (excluding SNPs) available at the $0 plan premium level.
