Last Sunday (March 5) the Missoulian published an article stating that thousands of Libby residents are worried that their health care will be taken away by repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
Yet, that is what they have continually voted for; 72 percent of Lincoln County voted for President Trump, who promised to repeal the ACA on his first day.
U.S. Sen. Steve Daines has voted to repeal the ACA over 50 times, yet 73 percent of Lincoln County voted to send him to the Senate in 2014. Although Daines said he doesn't think that the Libby-specific provisions will be repealed, his assurance is hardly reliable since he has never offered a replacement plan, and none of the plans being floated by Republicans include any such provisions.
Hopefully, in the upcoming special election for Congress, Libby voters will take off their red-colored glasses and vote for the Democratic candidate who will fight to save their health care, rather than voting to kill it, and themselves.
