Letter to the editor: Re-elect Smith as fiscal officer in Canton Township
Canton Repository (OH)
I support the re-election of Ron Smith for Canton Township fiscal officer.
As a retired 12½-year employee of Canton Township and working with Ron as his assistant for over 10 years, I have firsthand knowledge of his qualifications and experience.
Ron guided Canton Township out of fiscal emergency and has balanced the budget with a carryover balance for the past 16 years. He worked tirelessly to correct all discrepancies from state audits prior to his election, and under his direction, now has seven consecutive audits with no findings for recovery.
As fiscal officer, Ron spearheaded Canton Township to join Stark County Schools Council of Governments medical insurance pool, thus saving the township more than $250,000 in medical insurance premiums over the past 10 years.
For these reasons, I am voting for and asking the Canton Township community to re-elect Ron Smith for Canton Township fiscal officer.
