NEW YORK, June 18 -- JDRF, a non-profit dedicated to funding type 1 diabetes research, issued the following agency statement on June 17, 2021:
"Access to affordable, comprehensive health insurance is critical for millions of Americans living with pre-existing conditions such as type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Today the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in the case of California v. Texas that the states and individuals who argued the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was unconstitutional did not have standing to sue, ending this lawsuit and allowing the ACA to remain the law.
JDRF is pleased with this decision that keeps in place the healthcare principles and protections for which JDRF has been advocating for many years.
Even with this favorable decision, JDRF will continue to emphasize to Congress and other decision-makers the importance of insurance protections for people with T1D. "
